This is more like a preview of stuff already planned.

There are already models for wind generator with more blades (3,4,5,10) in game, which I simply used to create more "advanced" wind generators. For simplicity, I just scale the power produced according to the number of blades (which is pathetic for the first few versions). As a reasonable trade-off, I gave the advanced models some power storage (at 0, 5, 10, 15 accordingly)

In the future, wind generator performance will be dependent on weather, so it makes sense that some power storage should be incorporated. But even so, with the values I chose, perhaps only when reaching the mk4 version will wind power be reasonably feasible, which will still require a lot of windmills though. (feel free to edit the mod file to pump it up yourself, look for Wind Generator Mk2 thru Mk4)

For the visual part, I simply used the existing wind generator blade models, but did not change the material (so they all look like the rusty variant). The only other thing I changed was to make the rotation speed of the blades scale roughly with the number of blades.

Note: You still need to buy the first wind generator blueprints from construction merchant. The rest of the blueprints will unlock with research levels.

(battery feature may not be working correctly yet. see next post for an workaround version with flat power production)

Ok. just realised that battery feature may be broken.
At times, I lost the power contribution of the wind generators totally, which usually involve some battery charging or discharging.

As a workaround, the following version will set the battery to 0 and just add the value flat to power output.

The wind generators now produces (5, 12, 19, 32)

Ever thought of just messaging Chris these mods so he could incorporate them into a future update?
To me these don't really seem like mods, but rather more like hot-fixes for those specific items. Hell, he might even give ya some sort of job.

this mod is nothing lol. The fact that the resources are already in the game means that the dev prob has similar plans, which will eventually be in some future part of the game. I am guessing they may make nicer material (textures) for the more advanced models as well (and also to fix battery, which is more essential to unstable power sources like wind/sun). I am just enabling some "early preview", or really no other reasons than to watch the wind generators go round and round ;) and will probably obsolete this mod as soon as the "real" one comes out.

In short, these "vanilla tweaks" are not really worth the dev's attention imo. Let them do things in their own way and time :)

The reason for the different models with different #s of blades is because Chris wants to incorporate weather effects, and wind generators need a larger # of blades as the elevation decreases in order to work efficiently due to different wind speeds at different altitudes.

Nice to make use of the models in the meantime. :D

My current outpost has over 40 wind generators. With this mod I should be able to get that down to five or six... if it actually still worked anymore. Sadly, mod is not compatible with current build.
