Old Key no longer working.
Hi there, I purchased Kenshi the day it became available, and I played for awhile, but lost interest and figured I would wait until it was further along before playing again. Now today I re-installed it and tried to activate, but it says my key is invalid. I've double checked that i've entered it correctly several times, even copied and pasted from my email and it still doesn't work.

The first few hundred keys were a name/key combo. So you had you enter your name and your key, but I changed it because it caused a lot of problems.
So if you have one of these old keys, you need to enter them both on one line like this:
Jim Smith 00000-00000-0000-0000etc
You should copy paste the exact name that you registered it with, from the email with the key.
Also, if you have an old key, it means you are awesome.

Hi,
I'm in a very similar boat, although it is a lost one without compass, cannons, or rum. So not a very good boat then, as I've no means of navigation, explode-igation, or drunk-igation.
All pirate-boat metaphors aside, I too purchased within the first week of availability, but I've lost my code as well as allowed the email to be deleted. How would I go about recovering this?

send me a pm with the email address you used to purchase with, and include a haiku about the importance of saving all your keys in a safe place. A good haiku mind.
EDIT: Don't do this, Send an email to orders -at- bmtmicro.com. You will need to tell them the exact email address you used when you ordered, and ask them to re-send you your key.

Some of the older keys got missed out for Steam registration. I will add them in the next few days.
Don't enter the name in the steam activation code, just the key on its own.

I'm having problems with my key.
I entered it on Steam, and managed to activate it.
But then, when I try to play the game, it says my key is invalid.
I tried what you said above, copy & pasting the name + the key from my email, and I get the same problem.
I remembered I originally had problems playing the game because my name has a "~", and that caused some issues with my key.
Is there any chance you may, for example, change the key info on the server so that I can play using only the key (as steam provides) instead of name + key, since a character in my name is causing problems?
thanks

I also tried every method listed here, but the name I used to buy the game happens to be my email address. This caused the steam input box to cut off the end of my key as it doesn't allow the name + key input because it got too long.

DON'T enter your name in the steam box. Just the key on its own in the steam box. Name & key for when kenshi starts up (which you won't need to do unless you've re-formatted your PC since last playing kenshi)

Is it possible you were one of the first buyers? There are a few keys still to send to steam yet from then.

I've tried that one to begin with. Putting it in with the name was what I did when just putting the key in failed. But cheers Chris. Seems like my key works now.Chris_The_Great wrote:DON'T enter your name in the steam box. Just the key on its own in the steam box.
