Crash during save causes all NPCs to disappear

Severity:
Kind of annoying, as it corrupts the save game file, making all NPCs disappear on reload.

What I was doing:
was building stuff in town. I'd healed a few bandits and was putting them to bed, and went back to building stuff. Then hit save just in case = game crash.

Happened to me. Now I can't sell anything!
Lost profittsssssaaaaaaa.
Import with buildings and it should be fixed.
