Procedural Animation

I saw a video of a kickstarter game today called 'Sui Generis', which uses procedural animation for the swordfighting (basically, there are no pre-defined animations, it is all based on physics) and I thought this could fit really well with kenshi.
I'm not really sure how hard it is to do tbh, but it would save time and money animating all the characters. I think it works really well with the idea of kenshi being an evolving, non-scripted world, and hasn't chris said that he's more of a programmer than an artist?
Here's a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPrOonmaG00
Thoughts?

I'm going to come out and say that doing this AND making it look realistic is probably VERY hard to do. Procedural doesn't always mean easy... that said, I'll give that site a look.

That shud be realy hard to actually code and make debug etc...
but
kenshi would be most awesome game of all time if that system (at least partially) beign implemented.

I like Kenshi's current animations. If they could improve what they have, or add more, I'd be delighted. While the procedural animations are really awesome, we still don't know how to use them to good effect in games.
Going to fund that game now...

Theese are the animations of the FUTURE.

While I have to thank you for bringing that project to my attention that's one hell of an ambitious goal.
It's hard enough to program complex predefined things based of solid equations. When you start adding random variables things get really tricky. When the entire program is composed of variables... Dear god it hurts to think about.

Sweet mother of King Kong! That looks so perfect! Well... Not perfect but compared to anything made before... That is just awesome. I am speechless. If they succeed in finishing the game and everything is made well... It's new era of gaming. Oh, the possibilities! It already looks great and if they can tune it only a little better...Jesus!

That video looks nice in a lot of ways but is definitely not the right tech for Kenshi.
-It probably takes a lot more processing to calculate that one on one fight seen in the video. Imagine the typical group fight you see in Kenshi. And as the game grows there will likely be a lot more going on.
-This is partially due to the early use of that tech but the video looked like two people drunkenly flailing heavy objects left and right
Getting it to look like skilled sword fights would probably be a challenge.
-As a speculative positive and negative, I'm imagining My squad waiving weapons around and knocking each other over. You'd need to give NPCs more spacial awareness so they don't bunch up like they do now.
-And I have to agree with others that the games current animations are actually quite good.
