What about relationship? Example: If you hire swords for hire... they can left you if they are feeling unsafe, but if you free a slave, he will be your friend!

When there will be possibility of making faction base, and making it open, ability to assign new member automaticly (after you set it of course) to tranning/working (eg. farming, minning)/ and fighting Example: When new recruit come to your faction, he will Mine or farm for one month (in game) then move to tranning, after reaching certain amount of tranning (eg. Katana 20) he will move to partol?

What you think about this?

Since you control the characters i don't think that's really possible. But I do think in the future giving the followers actual AI so they're actually followers would be a great idea, and your suggestion would fit in there perfectly for that.

I think that in some point, is has been said, that squad members might disobey because morale is low or possibly opponent too strong. But I'm not completely sure it has been said by official source.(Crish)
