I know that they are trying to keep the theme realistic and avoid delving into too sci-fi or fantasy. However, I would like some deviation in the enemies. For example, there is one Japanese monster from the ancient myths that looks like a woman with a really long neck that drinks oil. This would be the type of freaky thing i would not like near my base. A strong, powerful, oil drinking monster that would attack my generators would be kinda scary, especially at night. Freakish classical Japanese Monsters if done properly would not tear off too much from the games realism. They can also be made into vary rare encounters and spawns to ease any effect on balance.
It would also make exploring more interesting if when prospecting into the desert, something horrible ambushed you from the sand. Like a long haired ghoul that looks like the woman from the ring. Something so terrible that if your clan prestige were high enough, large sums of money would be given to you to destroy it, or maybe to build a wall around where it roams to keep it in, and travelers out.
Mutants based on Japanese mythological creatures. (horror)
I quote the creater, "It is not set in Japan".Neofit wrote:We are playing in the vast expanses of some Japanese desert. You can throw anything in it, from the oil drinking woman to godzilla to sailor moon, it will not look out of place.
It s Hbrown!! Gotta get some pies!
Sure, and it's so easy, when looking at wooden platform sandals and katanas, to think "what a nice generic, totally non-Japanese, setting"hbrown wrote:I quote the creater, "It is not set in Japan".
Regardless of the disclaimer, I am thinking "Japan". Then I see "Japan" + desert. At this point a " + ghoul" or " + zombie" won't break the suspension of disbelief any more than it is already. I am not advocating it, but am not against either. For example an egyptian, sorry, generic pyramid with some evil inside wouldn't be more out of place IMO in this desert than dudes running in wooden platform sandals. And there are many other things like not having to deal with food, water, heat strokes that put this game into fantasy land too, where, as is well known, supernatural evils abound, waiting for us to step in and deal with them.
Blame the creator for it then xD, it s japanese based/inspired, but is not set in Japan.Neofit wrote:Sure, and it's so easy, when looking at wooden platform sandals and katanas, to think "what a nice generic, totally non-Japanese, setting".
About such creaturesit will depend if the creator i planning to add some fantasy elements to the game, which till now rather shown the oposite, we know he gona add animals, but i doubt we ll be seing some creatures like this, tho i would enjoy to see some(depending on waht they were, or how), just really doubt we gona see any of them.
We most likely gona have to stick to fight the humans and some animals, which is fine for me, afterall the game is like a real "other world" xD.

I highly disagree! For a start it isn't Japan, it may have Japanese inspirations like you said katanas etc. but it isn't japan I feel it has wild west themes as well such as the saloons and it feels like a old wild west desert to me rather than as eastern one.Neofit wrote:We are playing in the vast expanses of some Japanese desert. I for one don't want Godzilla destroying my outpost also Godzilla would be out of place in a desert since Godzilla is a mutant sea iguana (I know there will be more biomes but it still would seem odd, aggressive sand lizards would be cool!).
I defiantly don't want a giraffe anime girl galloping around drinking my oil that would give me endless nightmares. Not anything could be chucked in I don't see why the community doesn't make up some creatures and imagine some instead of stealing from legends.
Also had thought that, Kenshi should create his legends and myths, not be basing on others, maybe we get instead of a girafe girl who wants yur oil, may a bee who wants your ρiesEvilTea wrote:I defiantly don't want a giraffe anime girl galloping around drinking my oil that would give me endless nightmares. Personally I think this belongs more in a mod than in the game itself, Kenshi is not set in Japan, nor is it set in any mythic locale. While it would be interesting to see a mod, and in the west at least Japanese Mythology isn't typically seen in games so it would be a unique twist, the game doesn't really seem like it will be focused on small scale encounters in the future. Once we've been granted the ability to control multiple squads, acquire slaves, hire mercenaries and capture enemy towns the game promises to play out more along the lines of a 4X RPG than something focused on small random encounters of any nature. Just because dust bandits currently wander about disorganized and don't put forth a concerted effort to burn your outposts to the ground doesn't mean that won't figure into the game very soon, and a oil swilling long necked mutant doesn't seem to have a place in that IMO.
