Not on the scale of the Sims, mind you, but check out this game:

http://www.theguild2.com/

This game had a lot, each unit had a life span, each unit had children/owned business. And you could take your opposing players/npcs to court over legal disputes or fight and attack and kidnap or whatever.

But it was simple, what I think this game should have are needs like hunger/sleep/and unique systems like

Aging

Unit Morale

Disease

Maybe weird shit like people cheating death with cybernetics. And maybe even have unique diplomatic triggers. Like if you help towns bandits put a bounty on you. Or if you steal from caravans and people witness it (or are within range) and get back to a town you get bounties put onto you. Adding in sleeping camps with camp fires and tents and also weather.

One thing I imagined is if you used too much cyber parts on your body, a cult of pure bodies suddenly start to hunt you down as an abomination. (Or which ever unit is augmented.) Because they didn't ask for this.

Or maybe you decide to be a cultist yourself and declare your own demands and send diplomats to other factions to demand things.

So a rome total war type diplocamy/assassination thing could happen.

Also, I request adding vehicles at one point, like horses. Or cars, just simple tools that your unit can use to increase their movement speed. Good example of how that is achieved is this game right here:

Then it would be cool to have WORLD EVENTS.

Like, after the world is on for a certain amount of time, old world bunkers open up and unleash some crazy virus that starts turning units into zombies/mutants and changing the world up.

So having some kinda long scale survival/Dynasty mode would be sick.

just some ideas.

Vehicles will not be implemented in the game, Chris and the old guys have said multiple times to new guys. When I was a new guy, I was so fortunate I didn't request this, especially because it's not even needed. Aging has already been suggested, as well as morale and hunger, thirst and etc. . Disease may be implemented as a result of a plague or a siege. Weather, I dunno about that one, and I don't know what Chris will do with diplomacy too, but if the bandits raid your base you can pay them to leave you. About that of the purists and "They didn't ask for this", that seems a good concept, and it sounds like someone got it from Deus Ex Human Revolution, or not. And being a cultist wold be a nice addition, can't wait to worship Tzeench.

(I had to make another paragraph due to a WAY too large block of text, since sometimes the community just decides to make you mad with it. I'm serious) I have no knowledge about camps and camp fires, but they will probably will be put in too (I'm not sure though).

However, vehicles only increasing speed in the fast travel wold be good. World events... I've got mixed opinions, there can be a new plague that is NOT unleashed of a bunker or a barbarian invasion, but it can be a little... I don't know, something just doesn't feel right.

Anyways, most of the stuff has been either rejected or already suggested and the other part sounds kinda good. Except for one thing about the Total War assassination. There won't be a cinematic. At all. Trust me, I know Chris... kinda.
