That is a cool little base. I hadn't even considered the idea of a separate compound within a compound that you have in the top left. I wonder if taking this to its logical conclusion and building massive ring walls in multiple layers would be worth the effort?

EDIT: On a totally unrelated note, in the real world that base would be very vulnerable to attack. If I wanted to attack you and shut things down I could stick some sort of siege weapon on those hills in the background and bombard your power supplies to easily cripple the base. I know it means nothing in the game but in case you cared about roleplay and all that.... now you know.

All my bases will end up being built into mountainsides or on top of mountains. I know that much.

I always build my bases in the hill deserts near eye-socket, a lot of mesas. Although I havent got started on my 0.39 yet.

Yeah, I started building on a mountain, but had too many problems placing/connecting the walls. So for now, I use a nice flat area :)

Yep, flat spacious areas are much better. They also tend to be more aesthetically pleasing in the layout. I am building my base just outside of Clownsteady in the general direction of Brink; central with easy access but still remote enough to hide away from the world.

In ancient europe, the settlements were hard to be built because the terrain was mostly plains and some mountains... ok, there are actually alot of mountains in europe, but still the weather was also cold and that made agriculture hard, so don't be surprised that it's hard to build on a mountain, except when you want to make a disorganized millitary or mercenary camp or a bandit lair.

You can find the update here. it isnt on the launcher specifically because its a test version so you shouldnt expect it to be bug free or anywhere near if you DL it.

I tried to build a big wall to have some safe distance to bandits, but have a look at my later screens, a group of bandits walking right through my walls! They are ghosts for sure ;)

Very nice. I'd post mine but i doubt anyone actually wants to see it, its basically an intentional buggy mess because i was testing the limits of the system. Will have to get around to making a real outpost once .40 releases and bugs arent the prime concern

Where is that location? It's so flat. Mine was built on top of a dune, I'm thinking about moving it.

It's in the Southern part of the map, where you got huge flat areas.

EDIT: Also, that Plateau base is AWESOME! I love the look of it.

Aye it's pretty sexy. Like what I hope to accomplish. The only thing I worry about is that more buildings may come and I won't have room for them on my plateau.
