Make sure you are clicking the right file. Its the Kenshi_x64 . I got that message once as well, but the next time I re-dled the game, and clicked that file, it worked. So give that a shot.

Yeah, they are not working, as I can't find a Kenshi.exe anywhere in the dl, once extracted. or your copy is corrupt. as many others have downloaded the demo and haven't had any issues.
