Re: 0.69.0

Isn't every version an experimental version in an alpha? =P

Furthermore, there has been no explicit mention of opt-in testing anywhere on the news page, and the news page was rather particular about the update being available...

0.69.0

Is this release only on Desura/Steam for now? I'm still one of the old-fashioned DRM free nutjobs and I'm apparently still stuck on 0.67.2. =/

Re: Limit 10 People Per Squad

For those people that do want to micromanage, wouldn't it be possible to make shift+1-0 or alt+1-0 select different troops, too? With control, shift, alt, and just 1-0, that's forty troops/squads. Double that, actually. =) Naked+1-0 = 10 Shift+1-0 = 10 Alt+1-0 = 10 Ctrl+1-0 = 10 Shift+Alt+1-0 = 10 ...

Re: [Idea] Severed Limbs & Robotics Incorporation

You do know that an incorporation is the creation of a corporation, right? I'll just assume that you know that. incorporate (third-person singular simple present incorporates, present participle incorporating, simple past and past participle incorporated) 1. (transitive) To include (something) as a...

Re: Online ideas (No, not co-op)

I was about to jump in here with tooth and flame and then discovered it was actually a pretty workable suggestion. It wouldn't be something as simple as a seed by any reckoning -- it'd be a full-on save file -- but creating a special save file that you could just plop into your folder to have that &...

I think remembering speed is the more intuitive option than keeping the reset-to-normal behaviour. Plus it'd nix that annoying-as-balls speed reset whenever it auto-pauses while loading a new area. ;-)

Seconded. If only I had the authority, I'd also like to third, fourth, and fith it as well. =)

Re: Females!

You know, thinking on my post a bit more, I would say that females and males would actually be fairly evenly matched for the whole archery thing. Bows realistically require roughly equal parts strength -- to manage the draw weight -- and dexterity -- to steady and provide the aim. Therefore, if the ...

Re: Killing enemies while they are unconsious.

The one thing that strikes me about the idea of an execution or coup de grace is that it is very, very dishonourable . In a game about swordfights, especially Japanese-inspired swordfights of all things, I would think these people simply can't even draw the mental connection that it is possible to k...

Re: Affinities

Personally, I think a system that would really work well here is Elona's "potential". Potential is simply a straight floating point multiplier to your rate of skill gain, and you can see your potential score from the very beginning. Every stat then has a randomised potential from 0.001 to ...

Re: Females!

True, but my metric has always been: "if you feel you need to defend it in any way, you've gone too far". Academic arguments belong to academic experts in those fields, not to game designers who think they know about the differences between men and women, white people and black people, Nor...

Re: Females!

The reason we tend to avoid stuff like this, from a game development perspective, is because most of our preconceptions of what make women different than men are often sorely mistaken on both ends of the gender divide -- women, for instance, by and large believe the "men think of sex every five...

Re: Burials

That'd be pretty amazing, but honestly I think it's needlessly complex for a grave/burial system. It's an otherwise small feature that most players would not *truly* focus on for all the work one would have to be put into that. If a burial system were indeed added, it should be of simple design, be...

Re: Burials

Burning is actually Pagan style, so "Russian"-ish, to the extent that Pagans worldwide used to burn their dead, including the Norse, the Muscovy, etc. For that reason I would definitely lend support that it should be the preferred style. When Chris looks into burial with more seriousness, ...

That's not up to code! - Solving untrue buildings

I've been looking more and more at the buildings in Kenshi, how none of them are built perfectly upright, and I've been sort of squirming left and right. On one hand, it's obviously a deliberate design decision, part of the unique charm of the universe and the whole ramshackle survival concept that ...

Re: Unstuck chars

Meh. I've seen this sort of thing before in other projects. The moment anyone starts introducing features that work around bugs is the moment that they stop working on the bugs because the workarounds seem okay enough. While testing cheats and debug commands -- teleportation included -- would be a w...

Re: Why not always run, period? Aside from the fact that the PC party is the odd one out here -- NPCs always walk and only run in danger -- I find myself jabbing the walk/jog/run buttons all the time to capture the proper feel of the moment, for proper atmosphere. This is to say nothing of the fact...
