For future reference, the loss of the audio effects disappear when moving the camera with the WASD keys. Double-clicking on the portrait of one of your characters restores the missing sounds, which is a relief.

Actions sounds have vanished. Everything from running to combat is silent. What's strange as if I hold down the middle mouse button, I get full audio. Done the basics in Steam to no avail. It won't help though as it's a bug with the save game. Every save is the same. Start a new game and everything ...
