Re: Changing Equipment Should not be Instant
I mean, it's just unrealistic to be able to equip full armor so quickly. But to keep the game playable, we would then need different means of transporting mass quantities of goods. The reason for that instant-change dealy is that every fluff of lint has to be carried in someone's inventory. As a re...

Re: Stealth - The Not So Amazing Way!!!
The Brick Of Text translates as "make stealthy assassinations possible" without detailing any further concepts.
Smileys
I noticed that the forum smileys have all been cut amateurishly, leaving a white outline.
I suggest you replace them with properly cut ones:

The C-Bills of the Battletech universe could actually be Cat-Bills. People being people, it just got shortened over time.

It's obviously planned since there is a "SQUADRONS" button somewhere.

Re: Will the economy be as complex as the X-series?
Not only that, you'd need the AI to be able to deal with that complexity in an intelligent fashion. In theory it's easy. Just let the AI play out every permutation and pick the action that nets the best outcome. In practice, it's not doable because every resource-producing building changes the equat...

Re: Will the economy be as complex as the X-series?
Mind you, I'm not asking for a completely dynamic economy because those are inherently instable. It's the classic butterfly effect where a shortage in a small part of a faction's economy can lead into a downwards spiral. As a result you have to determine how to resolve bankruptcy of AI factions. It'...

Re: Military Weapons - Spears and other Polearms
I thought that creating stuff that doesn't exist is the basic premise in game development.
How does one "find an animation" anyway? Don't those have to be created for specific skeletons / weapons that had been rigged to a model?

Re: Will the economy be as complex as the X-series?
I wouldn't want an economy as complex as in X... because the X "economy" has hardly any complexity. It is completely detached from the rest of the game. You could destroy every space station in the game and enemies would continue to spawn at the same rate and with the same equipment. Goods...

Re: Military Weapons - Spears and other Polearms
If spears are a problem with the setting, there could still be yari. =) That one picture isn't really that important, though. It was just anecdotal. The point is that spears are a much older technology and should be available long before swords. Actually, the same goes for clubs. While there are som...

Re: Military Weapons - Spears and other Polearms
I'm not talking about "colossal battles". Even a single squad of 10-12 could easily make use of better tactics than... 1v1 duels. I was referring to this picture: http://www.lofigames.com/randomtitle/1.jpg It's long as a spear and held like a spear. It that were a sword, the guy would be h...

Military Weapons - Spears and other Polearms
Swords are fine for the dueling warrior and that whole romanticized bushido / knighthood stuff. For soldiers fighting as a unit they are backup weapons at best. The medieval soldier's weapon was the spear - or other polearm for more specific purposes. A soldier using a sword needs room to swing it. ...
Re: Firearms?
Though Kenshi uses many Asian style articles of clothing and weapons, the theme is not made to be truly Japanese. (Nor is it in Japan) It's as close to japanese as you can get without using japanese names and characteristic japanese architecture. Even the sword fighting is japanese and that's prett...

Re: Mapping and scale & Map marking
The X on the map shows your CAMERA location, not your chara location. So moving the camera around will tell you where north, south, ... is without having to painstakingly move your chara around Yah, already noticed. So since the compass functionality is in the game as an awkward workaround, there i...
