anyone who compares this games dev time to minecraft needs to fix the hole in their head. a company with several people working full time on a far simpler game method would of course be done long before an enormously complex game like Kenshi Not to take away from what Chris_the_Great has accomplish...

I think that the Steampunk approach is a pretty good idea.
Not too futuristic, doesn't require magic or super-science, seems to fit somewhat with the post-apocalytic lo-tech feel of the setting.
