Thanks much, loading with buildings and tech worked, also weirdly I now have 2 extra character slots, used to be 18 total, now it's 20. It could just be the screen resolution as I didn't change it. This only worked with my new save, the old save just crashes the same way.

My old save from previous version failed to load completely until I imported with just my squad and tech. I then went around and gathered building materials to build a new town, but any save after I build a building also fails to load.
