Re: Some ideas regarding DF and M&B
NO NO NO NO! Do not make it so we have hundreds of mindless brutes to command! This is a squad-based RPG, and not a commander with huge army game. We recruit one soldier at a time, providing them with equipment ourselves and training them, like we did when we made our first character. Each one of m...

Re: We need updates
More updates would be nice, but if Chris can work faster without having to stress about putting out an update every week I'm fine with it. after all I have other things to occupy my time while I wait. Kenshi's potential alone is enough to keep me around.

Re: Marriage+Reproduction
If anything you are playing the 'common cause' that is binding these people together rather than a specific dude/dudette. oh, I really like that idea Blxz. that you as the player aren't a person in the game but an idea, a drive that is uniting all of the members of your group toward some kind of go...

Re: So chris is getting rid of the desert landscape?
I was more concerned with this bit: "The world map will have more distinct zones. These zones will have different faction domination, races, different danger levels. Some zones will be impossible to survive until you are very strong. Eventually these zones will also have different creatures an...

Re: Prostitutes?
I think that prostitutes could serve a purpose in the game. as other people have said they could be a morale booster if that is implemented into the game. they could also serve as a source of income for your group or even as a type of spy if espionage is added. I'm thinking of a scenario where you s...

Re: Noob at Building
The large outpost is the ultimate building, its not meant to be in easy reach. Its not finished enough yet, but: 1- You will have pack mules to help you 2- You will be able to build a small shack and mine your own stone and building materials, then you can use that to build up the larger buildings....

Re: Squad formation makeup and weapon type pro's con's?
I don't know why people are bagging on heavy weapons. I gave a guy fresh out the gate a heavy, put him on defend only and sent him into the fray. It was a slowish start but it always is with fresh meat. Dex does increase with a heavy but much slower than strength. Of course with a high enough streng...
Re: 0.26.3?
I had to reinstall it but that seemed to fix the issue
Re: 0.26.3?
I keep trying to update the game but I keep getting a download error. this is the error that keeps popping up.
"Error trying to save file: Error downloading "http://184.173.21.2/~kenshiup/wyupdate/wyserver.wys": The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."

Doors and pathfinding
I noticed there was a door that my characters wouldn't run through so I decided to try all of the doors I could to see which ones the path-finding is having a problem with. I'll upload some pics of all the ones I find so other people can confirm if they are having the same problems. all of these pic...

Game launcher
I don't know if this is a bug, but I just downloaded the update and now the launcher no longer displays rendering system options, it is just blank. about to start the game to see if every thing else works.
edit. never mind it just doesn't automatically select the rendering subsystem. I feel dumb now

Re: Got a "Kickstarter" going!
I'm so dumb, I thought we were still talking about the indiegogo crowd-funding. I didn't see the suggestions for starting a second campaign on Kickstarter. I wouldn't have a problem with it but you might want to think about the rewards. some of them are limited so if you start a second campaign with...

Re: Got a "Kickstarter" going!
to you guys saying "oh this game needs to look pretty if Chris wants more money", you do realize that Alpha stage is the mechanical building part and Beta is the shiny polish part, right? ya its not the prettiest girl at the prom right now, but it is functional and it shows off the beginni...

Re: Similarities with M&B: Suggestions
From a design perspective though, I think it makes sense for the player to start out in first-person mode until he acquires his first ally. Would be a nice way to introduce the player to the world, through the eyes of his character, then rapidly expand out as soon as he purchases a mercenary. It'd ...

Re: Game survey
I can understand why people wouldn't like tolls or whatever for towns, but you guys aren't thinking this all the way through. for one it adds to the realism. for two if towns can charge tolls and taxes, than when you have towns of your own you can charge tolls and taxes. than it goes from you losing...

Re: Game survey
Consequences could be a long list, depending on what faction relations make it into the game.Something simple to start off with, would be an order to leave the territory with the AI guard escorting you out. How would they know ? A simple dialogue tree in which they ask to see your charter/token,and i...

Re: Game survey
Normally what I'll do to start is rob bandits until I have enough money to get a decent amount of trade goods, then just go back and forth between two or three towns that are close together and trade. I only do this until I have enough money to get the best equipment for my starting group, which is ...

Re: What do you want next?
I was just using the training thing as an example of how you could set up the buildings to automatically operate. I could just as easily have used an example with a building set up to be a store or hospital. I only went with training because we all have a pretty good Idea of how skill leveling works...
