So it hit me while I was playing, You know the half plate items?

You know how one side of the graphic covers the arm in parts?

Well I just realized, cybernetics could work the same way, except when "installed" they take the arm slot/leg slot/hand slot (if partial loss of limb is added)/ shin slot/etc.

You can simply add another inventory tab layer, which when pressed switches to cybernetics slot. Maybe make it so it only shows up once researched. Also don't call it Cybernetics, call it Prosthesis.... or Clockwork Limbs.

You can also go further where it can only be equipped or installed by someone else with high enough first aid.

I'm sure you've already thought of this of course, but its a way it can be done rather simple. Just requires modding UI.

Good idea.

Adding a risk factor as in your character being able to not survive the surgery would also be awesome.
Then you could add all sorts of surgery tools and altering factors such as a surgical bed, anesthesics etc.
On a path to martial balance, somewhere, in a dune near you...
