As Chris has said in his latest update, there will now be possible game starts, and it should be easy for modders to add them in.
The current one's for 0.40 are gonna be:
A retired soldier, enemies with holy empire
A squad with building materials.
So any requests or suggestions on what starts you'd like to be added to the game? (Either modders or Chris to add in later versions?)
Personally, I'd like to see the player start as part of a trading guild!

I would like to start as a bartender, with mah own business in a random town.
What about Bandit Lord, or something to that effect? You start with a massive boost to your skills, but you are hunted by basically EVERYONE, meaning you need to assemble your stuff fast.
This could present an interesting scenario where you are already set to go raiding and that kind of thing.

I want to start as a slave that belongs to a faction that is kind of like Caeser's Legion from Fallout NV, I think that'd be really cool.
I would like to start as a sheriff, where you would get some combat boosts and a huge relationship bonus with whatever city you start in... plus you could deputize people reducing their hiring cost by like thirty percent maybe(?)
And in the future when Chris Adds more stuff like medicine and surgery maybe you could start as a doctor or medic.
being a slave or bandit lord would be fun too though or even a cannibal... or starting as a lowly soldier in one of the factions and increasing in ranks finally becoming a general of said faction.

I'd like a start where I had a nice starting sword and decent starting armor, say son of a guardsman or something along those lines. You inherit your fathers gear when he dies in battle, perhaps you have a boost in relations with Universal Cities faction and a tiny building in which you and your father lived before he got killed in action. It would be awesome if, when more advanced quests are added, there would be a specific powerful sand ninja joujun (or whatever their leaders were called) that was the one who killed your father who you sought out to exact your revenge. Maybe once you kill him you find out he was hired by someone else and the quest could continue, heh...
Should probably go for the two standard shonen variants too.
1. You're young, just becoming an adult. In the last raid on your town, your parents, as well as a lot of the people you used to call your friends, save 1-2, were murdered. Your home is in ashes and you don't have much: the clothes on your back, a few days supplies, your pocket change, and some old blade you found in the wreckage of your home. This place holds little for you now, even if the town recovers, so you decide to set out. But before you leave, you find tracks and some shreds of clothing implying that one of the friends you thought dead might still be alive, and being held captive. Together with your remaining friends, you just might be able to save him/her.
2. Another coming of age. You've loved swords even before you were big enough to hold one without falling over. You practiced almost every day. As you practiced, you grew detached from your family. Your head is filled with other things: wanderlust, lust for power, and sometimes just plain lust. One night, your training pays off. A drunk attacks you on his way home. You successfully defend yourself, ending the poor bastard's life. You aren't arrested because it was self defense. Even so, people begin to talk, "maybe he provoked the drunk, we all know how badly he wants to use his sword." "He didn't have to kill the poor man, with as much practice as he does, he probably could have easily left him alive." You decide its finally time to listen to the lusts in your head. You get a job bodyguarding a caravan, and are set out to leave the next morning. You don't even know what the caravan trades, and you don't care, just as long as you get to leave this place.

I'd like a version of the current start.
An anonymous drifter moving from town to town, living a boring, but harsh life.
Until the day you take control of him.
Give him some reasonable stats, and 750 cats so you can hire a single companion.
Add in a mid range backpack, and some survival tools.

I am shocked that you were the one to come up with this starting idea. If anyone, I expected this out of Toaster_Assassin. I mean just look at him, he has the munchies so bad that he created an entire mod around pastries.Druglord wrote:... A Drug Lord. Start with a small hemp farm and a few workers and expand from there.

"Your family has been kidnapped!" Your family has been spirited away to the corners of the globe by an insidious villain who has taken and wasted your birthright. Find clues by talking to shady people in bars, track down and free your family...then seek you much deserved revenge.

A harsher start would be fun i think. One where everyone is against you and you start with 0 skill somewhere in the desert. This pushes the need for skillful scavenging and strategy to the max i think.
How to level up?
Like always: bring rivals together to fight each other, and try to get a few hits in in the process and when you see one side winning out, run for your life. That's one way i guess.
How would you be able to recruit?
- Kill the guards one by one until you can march into the city without worry. With time, one man can win against a thousand men (i think it is a quote but couldn't find it).
-Or you could just run like crazy towards the inn and hope for the best
- If you have a second henchman, make a diversion somewhere with your first man, then run in with the other to make a contract and run away again. Better: bring in some bandits for diversion, then run straight for the inn.
How to make money for recruitment?
-bounties maybe?

I think starting as like the true heir to the throne or something would be pretty awesome, you would have like a loyal bodyguard with you as you try to regain your place or start your own empire.
To Awesome Crispy: Throne to what? Why aren't you occupying the throne already? Elaborate a bit.AwesomeCrispy wrote:I think starting as like the true heir to the throne or something would be pretty awesome, you would have like a loyal bodyguard with you as you try to regain your place or start your own empire.
To everyone else: don't just list the starting assets and stats.
Write it out a bit, give some backstory, a reason for Wanderer to start his/her adventure.
When martial arts and hand to hand type stuff gets added in I would love to see a start where your first guy was away from home on an errand and a rival martial artist came by and did a dojo raid and killed the master of the school and then you and a few other surviving students have to go avenge your master. I think its been mentioned that there might be dojo's at some point so maybe with this you could also inherit the dojo after you avenge your master.
