Maybe Kenshi can introduce an alien faction, that mysteriously arrived from outer space. And with them, they brought all their steam-punk/samurai/post-apocalyptic prosthetic technology for the poor armless and legless bandits to use!

Bandits? I think not, Sir! Any alien prosthetic would be reserved for peoples of great valor or monetary standing. Why I should think a bandit would ne'er even be able to touch one.

The sale of luxury alien prosthesis to a limited customer base could be profitable I'm sure, but we all know real money lies in mass production, and producing a cheap alien prosthetic that everyone can afford. For every hero of great standing that lost an arm and was contacted by extraterrestrial life forms, there are 100 bandits just looking to the sky, waiting for someone to sell them a reasonably priced, but reliable mechanical alien tentacle arm.

I agree. There is even a precedent in loads of japanese themed cartoons that have tentacles. I suspect that the usage in kenshi might be different.....that might be what Mrsuck is complaining about; perhaps he wants the authentic usage only?

if we can have robotic limps that means that we could have beam guns, bazookas etc... That would break the whole game theme, Maybe a wooden leg? like pirates? that would be even better dude.

It is very easy to remove muskets and bazookas from existence while keeping robotic limbs and maintaining the fiction consistent. The simple unexistence of gun powder in that universe would explain the absence of any explosive-based weaponry, such as firearms.

Energy weapons (heat, sound, plasma cannons) however, will prove troublesome to remove, should the citizens of ]The Desert[ have knowldge of magnetism and high power electronics.

Fullmetal Alchemist reports the existence of two versions or dimensions of the same earth (I do not know the details of such planets or if they are even called earth, I simply know there are at least two), one earth which developed technology and science and one which stopped its technological development roughly at 'steam-engine' level mainly because alchemy and alchemical research is much more efficient and powerful.

what about if you have to scrap/reuse them they could be of varying but limited quality cause you can only reuse premade and leftover tech kinda like this maybe in the fact that they will eventually fizz out and some are better than others

It's the alien part that bugs me, most of the time steampunk universes DON'T have aliens and their atmosphere is good.

Next some sort of oil or liquid fuel. Finally nuclear. Each step makes a more useful and powerful arm. Each at the cost of a more devastating effect if the arm gets destroyed.

The sun is hardly sustainable. Our own sun is consuming roughly 4 billion tonnes of Hydrogen per second while spewing out virtually unmeasurable quantities of radiation across pretty much every wavelength. So you think about this next time you enjoy your 'Wind' or 'Solar' power. Only nuclear is totally independent of our sun (although incidentally it requires a separate star to produce it).

I do believe I said some sort of liquid fuel, which I believe alcohol would be considered. But if we are thinking sustainable, how about a wind up hand cranked arm.

But you have forgotten about me! Nyahahaha! To store the kitten liquid, you'd need some sort of storage chamber, maybe like a mechanical tail that holds it. And then you could give the person robotic ears to add solar cells to help recharge the kitten fluid (and whatever other plethora of functionality you could stuff into ears, like picking up radio transmissions). Man, that'd be totally weird/meta, robotic catgirls powered by liquified kittens. But I suppose sacrifices must be made for progress.
