How do I get people to visit my shops?

So I have a small settlement built up, I've put 2 shops in a building, made it public, and trew a bunch of stuff on the shelves. But nobody is coming to buy em... How can I get people to come, visit my shops, and maybe buy stuff?

Just to be on the safe side, you made your town public and also clicked on the door of the store to make it public aswell. Because i've gotten people to visit i just havent gotten them to buy anything. IF you have both setup as public i suggest speeding time up for a day or 2 and hopefully some traders will come.
