I started as a wanderer and had nothing but about 1000 credits when I started.
I found myself wondering what I should do, how I should go about it, and what do I do then.
1. I started near catan. The very first thing I noticed were roaming guards, and random attacks on the city by enemy personnel. I would run back and forth, between Catans market and looting the bodies. After I had enough cash for a larger backpack I picked one up.
*tip: Do not try to solo a group of enemy, you will die fast. Instead, if you see a group of enemy, run up to them, until they start chasing you, turn around and run towards a city, so the guards can help, or to nearby allies (holy empire is one you will find wandering around). They will aggro the enemy and you can turn back and then fight, backing away as needed, based on injury.
2. After you get a few thousand credits, start buying building materials.
Here is the order I started building my city: small shack, bed, research table, small farm, well, and a rum distillery. After you have this set up, you put 2 men on the farm, 1 on the well, and 1 on the rum distillary. Make Rum and lots of it.
You take that rum, and run to town and sell it. After you sell it, buy some more building materials, and start building a Stone mine, then when that is complete, build a Stone processor. With these 2 additional buildings, you will gain the ability to build your own building materials.
While all of this is going on, you may choose to make more rum to get more money. This will allow you to travel to other towns and pick up more personnel to assist with your city creation.
After you have got to this point, you can decide on a few things
Continue your tech, building new research tables as they become available--currently I have 4 up and running with 4 guys on it, but now that my tech is all done, they can work on other tasks now.
Keep making rum, as this is the greatest way to make fast money. You put 3 rum distilleries up and you start pumping out rum and money.
During this process, you should collect about 60,000 credits, then pack up your team and go to all the other towns, getting 20 people in your group. If you don't want to fight yet, just keep fleeing, until you find support.
As you work your tech, your buildings will gain the ability to be upgraded. At one point, you will notice that your supposed to have an upgrade, but the option is not available when you click on the equipment--when this happens, you need to build a new, upgraded version of the item. Be sure to keep checking your tech, and upgrading as needed. Since you have a stone mine and stone processor, you should have all the materials to build your entire city.
Storage--Make at least 3 stone storage bins and 5 building material storage bins. You will want at least 3 weapons racks, and 4 storage chests. Make sure you build storage chests near your rum distilleries, so you can quickly move the product out of the machine and into storage, allowing your character to get back to work.
After building your entire city, and research is done, I started on weapons. I built 4 weapons smithing benches and made the best weapons for my guys. After they were all weaponed up, I just roam around the desert killing enemies.
During the building process, you will find yourself needing power. Just build as needed.
TIP--More money--You will run across bosses as you fight. i.e. Sand ninja jounin is worth 5,000 credits. Right click on him, and pick him up and you can carry him around. Once you collect a few, you take those guys to the police station, and click on the prison cell, and you are awarded money.
I hope this helps some of you newer folks who are wondering wth to do.
Help!! I need money! A noobs guide on what to do.

This has probably been answered before, so I hope I'm not crucified too badly for asking... But how do you make money following the trade merchants?
I talk to a merchant and ask him if he needs a body guard and he says "sure, I'll join you!".... ???
Then I click BODY GUARD and FOLLOW on him but he ends up glitching out somewhere along his journey.
Is this feature just incomplete right now, or what?
Thanks.

I believe that is not actually working, at the moment. I built a city, and now they are bugged near my city. It is kind of nice, because they will defend my city when enemy attack, but traders are really buggy. Just follow the dead cat mercs, holy empire, or another faction that is friendly to you.
You can go out of range, while keeping in mind where they are, then when you pull enemy, just run your butts to the friendlies. After the friendlies engage, turn around, and work on your combat skills.
Loot, medic yourself/team, and heal friendlies that may be on the ground--you have to right click on them and select the "first aid" option. (this will gain you faction).
Do not be afraid to engage a whole group of enemy, because you can run all day, until you find help. Also, be aware, that you will have to load into new areas. The loading time can be long, just let the computer do it's thing, and chill; it really can take a while to load.
*protip--If you have a guy with an injured leg, and is moving really slowly, pick a guy to pick him up and carry him. Other guy gets to repair, and guy carrying him, can still do combat.

Thanks man. There are some good tips in there.
Hey!
Some newbie questions
I started playing yesterday and I was wondering if its possible to rearrange the order of your companions/members ? Or make them into groups?
Is it possible to edit names/looks of your companions after buying/Hiring them or just once?
Are weapons the only craftable item so far?
And last question! Are walls in yet? And prison cells? I've researched everything and built everything so I thought it might not be added yet? But looking in the wiki and Ive seen some people talking about it, is there something I'm missing?
Thank you!

There no way to reorder or form groups, at least for now.
With the next update you will have a Surgeon NPC which will allow you to re-open the char creation window, so for now no but soon yes.
For now only weapons cna be yes, tho in next update armours will be added so one after that they are likely to be craftable too.
They had been removed due to AI pathfinding problems, but you can use them if you go to the construction mode (control+shift+F12 if i am not wrong, if i am someone will correct), although they bring up bugs with them. I think the prison cells had the same issue not sure.

It s Hbrown!! Gotta get some pies!
Ah!
Awesome thanks!
I tried the ctrl+shift+f12 and it seems to work!
Also have one more question. Is it possible to respawn every npc (not companions) so I can kill them and loot them again?
Guards that I've killed doesn't seem to respawn, at least not geared.
I tried the "populate" button in construction menu and it repopulated the towns, but I lost all companions and my main character. (no character at all was available to me). Got me really scared for a moment.
Gonna look around for the save folder so I can backup and test stuff without losing my progress.
Sorry for my incompetence!
