Since you felt that this required a bump, I will state my opinion, I hadn't intended to initially.
What kind of a pansy doesn't want blood in a game with Samurai....
I think this is a ridiculous idea.
Why don't you make a mod to replace the blood with a patch of daisies?

if you dont like blood, you could play as a pacifist trader or a doctor, and use only blunt weapons, there will be lots of options for this. A man shouldn't go about casually killing others with swords and expect it to be pleasant and easy.

Wait..... we shouldn't?
Oh, no! my character is bleeding out so bad, its gone from daisies to tulips!SynysterOne Said: Why don't you make a mod to replace the blood with a patch of daisies?
Well, I guess if you don't like blood, don't cause people to bleed (there are many options, like Chris said). Maybe you can use ranged weapons (when available), they probably would not be as bad as a sword. Later, the stronger people will be able to cut off limbs ( blood effects most likely) so don't specialize in anything that can do that (when possible, but probably not now). *Ah, but what about the unarmed skill, its not like you could impale somebody with merely your hands (or rip their arms off).
*disclaimer: Toaster Assassin in no way can prove that this statement is valid within the Kenshi realm.

You will definitely be poking holes and tearing off limbs when un-armed. Piercing hands is part of martial arts which is what unarmed will be.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Personally I don't mind blood in games, but I do know what hemophobia is. I was actually a bit surprised the others didn't (except for SynysterOne, wasn't surprised about his reaction, he often posts before/without thinking, one day that'll get him in trouble
).
For those who don't know, hemophobia(also, blood phobia) is an extreme and/or irrational fear of blood (often caused by/linked with past severe traumas, but not always, and let's not go further into this).
So it's perfectly understandable Zalak doesn't want to see blood in Kenshi (and no SynysterOne, this does not make him a "pansy"). I have no idea how much extra work a "blood switch" would be for Chris, so I really couldn't say whether or not it'll be there or not. I also don't know if it'll be possible to mod it out, or recolor it or something like that (would re-colored blood still trouble you?) so I can't make any promises on modding it out. I'm really sorry but it seems to me there's not much choice except asking Chris/informing him about your condition, and then wait and see what he'll do.
Yours sincerely,

As with all phobias, there are of course certain gradations of hemophobia. It can range from being afraid only of actual real-life blood in your direct environment, to being all scared and trembling at the very mention of blood, much less the sight of anything that slightly resembles blood (and let's not forget that it's not just little red pixels, it's little red pixels coming from a cluster of little pink pixels we've been conditioned to see as a "human", small big difference there).

Well, for now Kenshi doesn't have any blood in it. And since blood's one of these artsy-graphics thingies, I don't think it'll be implemented for now. I can understand if you might be hesitant to buy Kenshi because of the possibility of blood though. But perhaps you've already purchased Kenshi, in which case I'd congratulate you for giving your support for something you might potentially not enjoy.

I know full well what hemophobia is.
But it's a game.
For all you know it's red paint.
What if the people of the Kenshi universe weren't humans, and had green blood.
Would you still have a problem with it then?
EDIT:
I don't have anything wrong with phobias or people who have them.
I have a MAJOR problem with irrationality.

it will probably be quite simple to mod it out.
Most if not all phobias are irrational by nature. Saying the guy is being irrational is redundant, he cant help it. But like was said, removing the blood through mods will probably be simple, just keep in mind that hacking off limbs and general graphical violence will occur in this game, if you can cope with that then hesitate no longer.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Not all phobias are irrational.
And as far as modding the blood out, it will be a simple matter. The code being changed shouldn't be a problem either.
The only thing you'd have to deal with is Chris adding more units that bleed, or different types of blood spatters or different ways in which your character may bleed.
All of these will be a simple patch for the version that requires it though.

Hay, its no prob that you have an blood phobia, but perhaps there are certain game play steps you can take to minimize its intensity. What about the graphic settings (the white screen) before the game loads, Maybe you can set a certain graphic detail and (possibly) disable the blood (I am not saying that there is setting for that, but maybe a texture setting or rendering type). Another idea would be during battle zoom out a little so the blood splatters are smaller, think of it as command and conquer style fighting alternative (just zoom back in when done). Again, specialize perhaps in alternative weapon styles (when possible) like unarmed, blunt and (I do not know the blood factor) maybe bows. Hold on, when blood splatters are implemented maybe you can replace the blood decal files in the Kenshi main folder (I don't know if there will be blood animation though).
