Generally, making it harder / more effort to enslave and maintain slaves.
- A relation penalty is a good and easy mechanic. There don´t necessarily have to be feeding raids (what about sieges, btw ;) ).
- There could be sneaky liberation attemps. Some ninjas climbing your walls.
- Traders are less likely to trade.
- Slaves making trouble, not only refuse to work every now and then, but planning escapes collectively (the more slaves, the bigger a potential mob) stealing things and weapons
- a moral -value for chars generally. Some chars just don´t like slavery. Or a even more complex "social-system" (im very badly for a kind of personallity-social-needs-moral-loyalty-system ;) ..well, entire new feature, but this would be cool and would bring so much. beside balance-possibilitys.
- restricted control over slaves
- ...

Anyway, youre able to buy lifelong, absolute, full controlable companions for 700cats anyway. Would it be that much imbalance if you would be able to enslave ppl with a not too easy to obtainable chain?

Just to give the beast a name: What exactly IS the said imbalance, anyway?

All my yes.

I'd vote no on the social system between your own troops. However if it's a popular idea and the devs implement it then I'll deal with it.

At the moment it's really easy to obtain prisoners. You beat them the f^ck up and put them in a cage.
You make a good point though! That's irrelevant to how likely you can make them a slave. If it takes lots of effort to train and discipline them (and even then there would likely still be escapees) then that right there could be the balance we're looking for.

Prior to your outstanding observation on this subject that I didn't consider earlier, my worry was that you could obtain a large force of slave labor with hungry bandits. It's really not hard to knock out every band that comes by so the numbers would add up.

There would be a food problem but if the slaves could produce their own food and then some, it's a very efficient and potentially imbalanced element of the game.

I think it'll be good though if it requires time and effort to get the slaves to be obedient.

ok what if as your slave population gets higher a major faction will come and "levy" them from you and as they would be well equip and high in numbers it would make it harder to fend them off so your slave pop would always be under pressure hence more balanced.

I think that would basically be the same as being raided, only with a conversation menu to avoid fighting.
So yeah, that'd work too. It'd be an easy way for the developers to say "m8, calm dafuq down with the slaves"
