'Belt' option in inventory?

First things first, I've been following the game's progress over the past 4-5 years, and the progress has been phenomenal.Tthe latest additional weapons update is fantastic, and I'm really happy to see the game's development progressing so well.

I noticed that the Inventory screen now has a 'Belt' option, which is a 2x2 square. I haven't seen any announcements, official or otherwise, about what the plans are for this inventory slot. Does anybody have any idea what the slot is used for (ie: more armor options, a second bag slot, tools....)?

So far, it's just set up to be the slot where you put lanterns in. But there are future possibilities.

Though there has never even been official mention of them. Not even once. And the lanterns are not even available yet. So for now it just sits there unused.

wonder if it could also double up and be used for crossbow bolts if ranged weapons are added(here's hoping for bows too)
