I posted this on Steam,
Pleasantly surprised
Reinstalled Kenshi after several months, when I took it off my comp it was pretty unstable; but I was pleasantly surprised with the current version. Quite stable, had a couple of multi-hour sessions no crashes, only had one problem with NPCs no longer visible but a quick reload fixed that.
The pathing is so much better, the frames are better, and the mechaniocs that I've tested all seem to work well.
The sliders for settings allow better personalization. I thought the old food mechanic was too harsh, and it looks like our voices were heard and a solution found.
I'm still seeing a little bit of toxicity on the forum (some unwarranted (IMO) criticism and some harsh moderation/reaction, but this gem is looking better and better. The playable area has increased since I last looked, and the modding feature allows for custom starts. This was very welcome as all of my old saves got lost with windows10 upgrade somehow (probably my fault they're gone, but I was happy not to have to start completely fresh and was able to build a nice crew.
Got 10 peeps geared and toughened and attacked the Dust Bandit King. Very much funs. This is the first version (for me anyway) that worked. The gear, weapons, all of the assets look great.
There's so many nice little touches, its good to see this progress. Still a ways to go, but ...
good job LoFi, its taking a long time but this load up was worth it.
Pleasantly Surprised
The game really has improved immensely! I've been waiting for a few patches but couldn't wait any longer... even enabled "experimental". The settings and set pieces have tons of artistic spirit to them. The game play is constantly keeping me in my own "story mode" deciding how I want my group to thrive.
In fact, my favorite thing about this game is how much character the NPC world has already. It's a massive boon to the game. NPC's are better than many games I've played. On top of this is the fact that team management really does inspire a sense of "life" and "character story" -- I have hands-on knowledge of each person in my squads and at the minimum a little mental sense of character for them. At best many of my characters end up with backstories and of course stories about their survival during game play.
