Heads up, as of .95.29, i have not noticed dexterity going up when using martial arts, strength goes up, a LOT. I had it jump from 63 to 70 in an hour of gameplay, where as dex has stayed the same the entire time.

not sure if it is a bug or a mechanic change.

I haven't found a way to train combat very well at all, and I could use some advice. My combat guy has 26 sabre skill and 21 attack, pretty good strength. But even though he'll win against 5 hungry bandits, it usually takes a day for him to recuperate and then find someone else to fight; and 10 bandits will knock him out, so I avoid a lot of potential targets. I'm on day 57 and that seems like a really long time to be playing to only have middling skills. How do you find targets to beat up at such a rate, and without needing a day to heal up, that you can "focus" on combat training?

Your best bet would be to stick to a caravan, or roaming pack of mercs, with bodyguard option, and roam along untill they find something to fight, then join in on the leftover targets.

upd: although it could take a day to even find target in this case. Hm. So, i suppose, getting squadmates isn't an option? :)

Hiver country is your friend. :) At least, if you can find a solo Beakthing, you can micromanage the fight such that he never hits; he always signals his attack with enough time for you to pull your char back.

You can also leave your char there to take the hit if you can see he has the right block move going.

Of course, you want to do this near a Hiver village, so you can run to safety if need be.

Good tip. Hunting packs of raptors and bonedogs is a pretty good way to start off, but at a certain point, you aren't learning anything from those fights.

There was a Kenshi Solo challenge made by Terminarch. And yes. It involves a lot of days spent healing after getting beaten up. At one point he kidnaps people to beat each other up in a shed.
