House Purchase in Brink or Black Scratch

Is it a bug or is it not possible to buy 'broken' houses in Brink or Black Scratch? I really like this area, but I don't want to build a storm house out in the sticks. I know there are free beds in Black Scratch, but I want to build storage boxes and make a home for my squad which isn't currently strong enough to defend against Reavers... Any suggestions (other than come back later)?

not all buildings can be bought.

There is a step house in Brink that is usually for sale. You could also mod the game to make the houses able to be bought.

Thanks for the advice. I made a small fortune on runs between Sho-Battai/Drin and then headed back to the safety of the Hub-Squin area. I'll revisit Brink and surrounds when my combat squad is beefier (and I know more about the game).

I understand the game is moddable, but I am still enjoying the imaginative world and limitations imposed by the developers. I can see why the developers and game creator are held in high esteem. This is one of the best games I've encountered!! Particularly refreshing is the good humour and cooperation of the gaming community attracted to this game!

Black Scratch has a comfy unbroken house for sale at the gate next to a shed that is also for sale.
