Look forward to the next update
folage will add some dimension to the game.
Any chance on working with Unit formations in the next patch? and ranged combat: bows, throwing weapons, and guns, will they be making an appearance anytime soon?

I don't live in a desert but it looked strange that some of the grass was growing straight out of the sand. Some of it was growing out of a rocky/grassy texture on the ground from the looks of the video, though, which makes more sense.
In the video there are windmills in the background rotating at a relatively fast pace, yet there was no sang kicking up. Sandstorms and whispy looking sand blowing over the dunes would be very welcome. Does the game model wind?
I do hope there's more than a desert biome in this game. There's a reason the desert is one of my least favorite areas in just about any game...
Even ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead took place in a desert and it had nice foliage and such. Still wasn't as interesting as Chernarus or Sahrani or Nogova etc.

Rain means clouds. I haven't played in a while so I forget if it's been added, but clouds would be nice =pgreen grass means rain...
Plants can grow out of the sand. Next time you go to the beach check out the border between the sand and the soil. Also, not all deserts are 100% sand even though they may appear that way. You can get decent percentages of both clay and silt particles despite the soil having a predominately sandy texture.

correct

maybe the sand should be a shade or two darker and it wouldnt play with the mind as much?
as for dust storms and the introduction of wind and clouds... i would saw its coming. i would think those implementation would be difficult for this game as of now causing it to be taxing on resources. im not a developer though.
WOW! Chris's new artist is AWESOME. That picture almost looks like a real desert. I certainly am convinced it is. Great aesthetic.
[Disclaimer:To be perfectly honest I am aware that is a real picture.]

I agree some of the flowers do look a little funny just popping out of the sand. Maybe you could throw some rocks or dead wood around the bottom of the plants to help intergate the flowers better.
Could also use some sound. Battle sounds and some background music.
Sound can be a powerful tool, it can set atmosphere and mood and gives an unseen depth, i always remember a game or movie by its soundtrack its always one of the first things i pay attention to.

but seriously, good. good lasting qualities are better than something thrown together over night and leaves a bad taste in our mouth.

Add fatalities from Mortal Kombat. I'm half kidding, add in so you can actually finish people. Or if your badly defeated the enemy can kill you (Or if you ran away and someone stayed back to hold them off, they can kill him)
I read in another popular post, the poster said even just a simple sword thrust animation into a downed person would be good enough. I 100% agree with that. It would make you feel very powerful and of course let you FINISH THEM!

but that means the NPCs can do the same to your characters. Is that what you want?

You know what man, if you lose that bad it should mean that you have to pay the consequences. Well it'd also give another reason to pick up your guy that is down and get the hell outa there. It would Make the game feel like a survival race and I think would add to the game a lot.Chris_The_Great wrote:but that means the NPCs can do the same to your characters. Is that what you want?

as long as capturing is the better, more profitable option, then you have some motivation to not just kill everything, same with NPCs.
Hell, maybe "sparing" bandits or people improves your reputation with them and if that group survives they will ignore you or run to your aid or something. IIRC getting knocked down but surviving gets you a bit of skill in *something* so they would be happy that you let them live another day to make use of it or something.
