I think running into Atlatl fire (if you can call it that) would be awesome.
Javelins. Awwwww yeah.

Well, as per my quote:
Blxz wrote:I don't care about starwars stuff
...no. i just want a mod with a sword of pure energy that does disgustingly high damage and ruins enemies so I can solo the entire world for the times when I need to do some serious damage.

No, I'd rather aim at you with an airgun. Like a gunpowder gun, except it must take longer to aim and reload and must be set up to be original but it can be fired at long range and has alot of accuracy.

Personally, I believe that beyond the idea of a firearm mod; if guns were used in the game, I think the most logical way to find/carft them would be to go in some sort of dungeon where you could find parts, or/and broken firearms...

I think that gunpowder weapons should be limited to maybe flintlock pistols or wheel lock pistols. I dont think that having them would make the game overly difficult or easy, as long as not every NPC has them, maybe just the empire and one or two other large factions, and have them for sale (at a very high price) in shops.

I agree, they should be powerfull, but rare imo.

How did we get from guns to lightsabers?

Back on topic though I personally think that there should be civil war guns, or guns that would take 60 seconds to reload but would deal massive damage to a single bodypart, and maybe add special rounds, and the ability to create a firing squad with you party. Example You have a squad of 12 people you send six to fight with a group of 15 bandits and quickly pull your men to a full retreat leading them over a sand hill and right into an ambush by your other six men who would be in a line formation with rifles ready, they would fire injuring and startling the enemy, and then pull their backup swords out and charge the survivors.

I would be ok with single shot spring loaded ranged weapons that required a lot of time to wind up in between shots. Time for the enemy to run to where you are. The longer you wind the more range/damage you get up to a maximum. If there are going to be animals there should be projectiles. Who attacks an alien creature or future mutated bear with a sword?
Maybe there can be gunpowder but no one wants to waste the metal or gunpowder ingredients on bullets/bullet casings? Maybe the world has no more heavy metals like lead or tungsten and steel bullets aren't worth the steel? If armies are a for sure future feature then tossing that rare homemade hand grenade in a charging crowd of swordspeople would be the pinnacle of good times. I can already picture the shrapnel, limbs and blood flying and it makes me smile.

Some kind of projectile weapons should be in the game for reason's sake alone. Fiction should be able to sort out the details and make it ok. In the Dune series people used swords and knives because everyone had personal shields that slowed down anything that hit them. The faster the projectile was the more the shield would slow it down. Boom! Swashbuckling. Just like that. Star Wars used slower-than-light light beam blasters and self contained laser swords that could reflect them away...uh I don't think I've really thought about it before but wtf Star Wars?

My point is that a properly justified fictional explanation with sound internal logic can explain away any questions about "why not guns?"

I'd love to retrieve a piece of junk in the sand and throw it at the face of bandits just to find it's a grenade

Maybe a good way to add in more weapon diversity without taking away from the Japanese theme would be to just add more factions with differences in the weapons their soldiers use?
