So, i got to question what is the Kenshi's currency full name?
I remember vaguely that it was named after Catun city, which was kind of capital in the old map, so is it still valid?
Should i read "Paid 100 cats ..." as "Paid 100 Catuns ..." Or i may think of something like this:

Hilarity aside I doubt its anything like a formal printed currency.

As far as I can tell the world Kenshi exists in lacks the luxury to mine, refine, Mint, and distribute a standardized currency. Each faction probably has their own version and accepts coinage from other factions on an honor system that assumes a uniform and stable value.

Think of them as Kenshi's version of the European Ducat from the medieval era. Many nations printed their own and most were accepted as the international trade currency.

Some of the dialog refers to them as Catun Credits, so it's likely still a currency based from that city. I'm actually a bit curious were that city will be in the new map, if it will be. It's one of the few cities that has some distinct lore about it, with the currency and a weapon manufacturer being named after it.

Oh, i didn't mean actual metal stamping, but was rather curious if Chris or whoever came up with the name had actual cats in mind, or similarity of two words is mere coinsedence :)

Disclaimer: I do not in any way imply trading is happening with actual animals, and only talking about word itself and its relation to felines.

P.S.
Although, as i think of it... wouldn't it be awesome if cats were real and very valuable in the world of Kenshi and every large nation had its own reserve of cats, and cat's value was measured in amount of cats...

P.P.S.
I'm asking because if word is related to felines, i must carry this similarity into my translation mod, that's all :)
