How is price markup for different items determined?
I'm asking because I started one game (I have about three going) as a trader and am currently going between all of the big towns to trade in an effort to get enough money to build a couple of trading posts.

What I have noticed is that the vast majority of things I go to I buy or sell are marked down almost every where (there is always somewhere but often few and far between). Some items ARE marked down every where. An example of this is gears. I have not seen a single trade shop or merchant of any kind that has a mark up. Now I will say that the prices seem to vary from 70% to 88% so there is a profit to be made but I have yet to see anything even up to 100% for gears. This again is an example.

Every game I start seems to have different prices from every other game I make. I'm just trying to determine if every thing is determined randomly or if there is a pattern. I would hate to have to import characters from one game to another just to get an economy that is mixed enough to work.

As far as I know, they should just randomly vary between 70%-130%.

There are however modifiers based on town and faction. So some things are always more valuable in certain places, and less so in others.
