Hi everybody,
Has anyone got some experience in this?
It means a quite isolated settlement and even getting there in numbers will be a tough one.
Looking forward to sharing experiences.

Several months-old Bootleggers scouting report.
Based on a week of exploring the location in question, we've come to a conclusion that the main danger in the region would be from Gutters and occasional berserkers coming through. That is true for southern borders. Leviathans indeed does not pay attention to a small groups of 2-3, but might become a problem for larger scale settlements, although north-western parts appeared rather calm and clear of any life. We could suggest the area north-north-west, in the large flat valley between 4 small roundly-shaped mountains as the most calm part of the region. South-south-eastern valley, between the two large mountains and the lake, is also flat and suitable for major building, although, appears to be more dangerous, as it's bordering Cannibal Plains and Iron Trail, as well as homing several Leviathan's and Gutter's nests. Unfortunately the prospecting has been overlooked during our expedition, therefore we cannot tell anything certain on the subject.
End of report.

Thank you very much for this report.
I have seen ut us possible to olant seeds, as well as supporting veins of ore and copper.
Stone also exists.
I really hope to hear some info from someone actually settling there.

I set up a base there once. Brought a team of experienced fighters with plate jackets. Leviathans randomly got angry and knocked out defenders, but usually ignored the camp. Think a wall will keep them out, as well as the beak things. Think leviathans can instantly kill weaker squad members, but this was an experienced squad. A weaker squad would have trouble getting to the leviathan coast in the first place, there are lots of cannibals and shrieking bandits to fight along the way.
The base was built using materials scavenged from the nearby ruins and cannibal villages. It's possible to scavenge enough materials to set up a base using wind power. Also looted some fuel from the ruins that kept the machines running until batteries were in place.
As for food, large garru packs provided ample supplies of food. Didn't try farming but definitely looks possible. Depending on where the base is located I think the closest stores are in Mongrel, the Northern Coast fishing village, and the new hive villages on the west coast.
The base was set up before the United Cities started collecting taxes. Not sure how far their territory extends but their tax collectors may show up.

I imported a game recently and took all the resources of my pre-import save and set up a base right on the edge of the cannibal area and iron trail.
I ended up having to fend off waves of cannibals and beak things. Raptors constantly attacked my gate. After about 10 IRL hours I managed to set up a double wall perimiter that allowed me to funnel attackers into a turret kill zone.
I then set up a simmilar turret kill zone across locations where leviathans roam and have been killing them off one by one. Turns out they don't attack walls for some reason and can't hit people on turrets so they just walk back and forth until they drop from concentrated turret fire.
Some advice
It will take a long, long time to get there so stock up on food/medicine.
Have every member of your squads loaded up with building materials/iron/copper etc., you will want to build quickly.
Don't bother trying to set up an actual base until you've reached the final tier of research or you will get overrun by cannibals and beak things.
Walls are your friends here as is hydroponics.
Keep as many walls and doors between your gear/food and your enemies as possible.
If you attack the nearby cannibal camps/towns you're going to draw the attention of a horde of cannibals so be ready for that.
Garru will wander through your base and randomly attack your people before your walls are up.
Small wind generators will work better than the large ones

I'm currently settling on top of one of the mountain peaks in Leviathan Coast. I'm going for a "legendary smith swordsman from the mythical lands where Leviathans live" type character. The leviathans themselves have never been a problem and like the garru and beak things, the wildlife for me has actually been helping me currently. The cannables seem to raid about once every in-game week or so, and all the wildlife either completely destroy the raids before they can reach my base or leave several half dead cannables running into my base to get finished off. It's actually quite a nice place to settle if your squad is intermediate explorers. Newbies I feel, will die. If anything the tech hunters have been the most harmful to my squad. They seem to attack out of fear of competition up there; and they're quite strong

I currently have one hunting outpost set up there as a means of obtaining meat for my main settlement in cannibal territory.
I set up one building on the shore and fenced in a part of the beach. I have turrets on the roof powered by wind. Couple campfires for cooking meat, and several fishing poles on the beach.
Most the materials were scavenged from the surrounding ruins. The "cabin" sits between a garu nest and a gutter nest. So I have a steady supply of tasty animals to shoot.
I have two squads on the base, and run one out there with supplies from the main base and to pick up meat and bring it back to the main base.
I have had two Leviathans attack. One was taken down with the turrets and the other turned and left. In all it's a pretty cool place to be.
