I build my first outpost in the SW of Squin. Not the wisest decision being a flat skin. They came to my base asking for tributes, mainly food. I bend the knee and agree, leave 1 gate open all the time and my town is open to public. They came several times but they never entered my town nor did my food magically diminish.
Now their coming to murder the crap out of me...return for blood but i never attacked them. What did i do wrong ?

I think you had to actually take one of your characters and speak to the leader? Have you tried that? I haven't really had much peacefull base visits, so i'm not entirely sure how that all works

i ran, the guys the just 'raided' me, stole nothing broke nothing and left...kinda un-rpgii

Well, if you didn't talked to them, and just left your base, i guess they didn't felt like chasing you and just left themselves. The current mechanics is such that if nobody's at the base, it can't be raided. So you can explore and do other things in distand lands safely, i think.

SOL is right, if you are not there they will just leave. If you are there they will beat you down.
it seems the code for destroying and stealing things is not working as I have had many raids that "Succeeded" but they just ran inside and back out. They don't seem to do any damage even when they do get past the gates.

As for the Shek it could be you didn't talk to them the one time now they are in attack mode. Or because you are a flat skin they are just attacking. I have a base near one of the shek towns and they just told me I had to leave then started to attack.

Also note that they are not always the brightest. Sometimes they stand around the side or back of your base and not that the front gate to talk to you. Really have to watch for them.

im pretty sure i talked to them every time and bent the knee, i will refuse next time out of curiosity. The attack came from far away, it had a msg ... blood revenge something.
also got attacked by traders once... had both my gate doors close for a while but somehow they got in and attacked my gate. No i dont think i got holes even so i was not filling them at the time.

I too was attacked by traders. They keep destroying my closed gate. I suspect it may have something to do with the gate being set to private, and my Turret gunner shooting at them. It is an annoying bug. I would rather have them see a closed gate, and leave.
