(Hope this is the correct place to place this since it is about .39)

So I got tired of the hack and slash repetition and took a break from Kenshi a couple months back, And have been counting the days since .40 was announced and happily booted up Kenshi as soon as I saw .39

First thing nostalgia brought to me was a fast "Bandits come and stomp me in the face festival" and I knew I was back home. I started out on the survivor scenario but ran into a bug (Which was reported already) and went to the freedom scenario.

I had a lot of trial and error (Being murdered and losing) on trying to build up my settlements. Near cities, in the middle of nowhere, mountains and planes but always got my fresh little butt handed to me.

Finally I camped out in a city and send a few people at a time with my soldier to train on bandits until they were strong enough to hold their own, then started on my settlement. I was interested in how other people found innovation in building their settlements from scratch with a new squad of people.

So I would love to read, if you would love to share any of the stories/methods you have found starting out in the harsh land of kenshi .39? :-)

Yeah, can be pretty tough starting in the middle of nowhere. At least you get 'old soldier' in your group too. My first 0.39.1 playthough, I used old soldier to do the killing and put everyone with traders backpacks in blocks mode. Bandages were a bit of an issue, and I had to go out looking for a new supply. Make sure you check the bodies for extras. Also, keep in mind you can take the trader's backpacks off if you want them to fight a little better, and keep an eye out for roving friendly patrols.

On my second playthrough, I made my main character a level 80 in skills with lots of med kits.
On my third playthrough, my main was level 100, as were my 9 settlers. Bloody bandits interfering with my testing.
Of course, I mainly did this for testing purposes.

Sounds like a bunch of fun. Is this the unstable .39 that Glorious Leader just released?
