Just bought Kenshi from Steam and my word I've been impressed so far -- this is exactly the kind of game I've been looking for for years, however I do have a couple of questions I'd appreciate some help with. Apologies if they've been answered before, but I have searched the forums with no luck so far.

1. Most of the armour I've found so far has poor coverage, which I'm guessing is intentional, but are there any "Heavy" armours with near-perfect upper body coverage?

2. Does the type of weapon or the weight of the weapon effect your speed in combat?

3. Is coverage a simple "Chance to apply defence" to that area? For instance if I have 50% head coverage, do headshots have a 50% chance of ignoring my armour, or is it more complex than that?

1. Not yet no. There's more armour and items coming when the art gets updated in game, but right now there is only two types of armour. You can also wear jackets which give you coverage all over but aren't as effective.

2. Your proficiency with a weapon is based on your skill related to the weapon type. Your attack and defence skill determine how often you attack and how well you defend respectively and your dexterity determines how well you can use weapons and whether you can defend or not. Strength has an effect with super heavy and hacker weapons.

So different weapons offer different bonuses. Katanas aren't as powerful but increase dexterity. Sabres are more powerful but less weildy. Hackers offer a slash and slight strength bonus and super heavy weapons rely on strength for effectiveness.

3. Coverage effects damage reduction on the intended body part eg. If you have a chest plate, you reduce the damage dealt on your chest than elsewhere.

Thankyou for the information, really appreciate it. So from what I understand now, training with Katanas is a good way to increase your combat speed, which is what I'll do now.
