Your image didnt work, but im guessing you're talking about the 3x3 block of buttons. Run/jog/walk should be self explanatory.. Agg/def/evade are currently disabled, it seems to me, Far/near/stay as far as i can tell, sets the range to which the person will respond to commands other than walk. if told to stay, thats all they'll do, is walk to where you tell them, they wont defend, they wont loot, or anything else.

I think far/near/stay is actually used to determine how close an enemy has to get before your character runs out to attack them. Useful if you want them to stay in a locked building or not chase people who are already 200ft away.

The "blocks" button is used to set your characters into defensive stance.

Just tested it with two different characters at different ranges:

First, i tried using my research desk at "stay" I was just inside the door of a shack, and he didnt move. moved him right next to it manually, then used it, and he began work.

Tried a smiliar with my trader who was near Brink, on my mine. Set to near, he wouldnt start to move towards it, changed it to far, and he began moving and set goal to "operating machine"

Hopefully, ranged weapons will make it so that a character aims (no pun intended) to keep a certain length away from the enemies as they fire their weapons. If the enemy gets too close, however, they should be able to switch over their weapons and charge them with their swords and stuff.

Or perhaps as a flee distance. Like setting them to skirmish mode so they automatically run away when enemy troops get too close. I know I wouldn't want my ranged-training-only archers to get into melee.

Edit: oh right! Are these the buttons you were talking about, or were they something else?
