So how are you supposed to get started when picking The Holy Sword? 100 cats and alone. no way to take down bandits like that. Any tips on what to do would be awesome!

I've tried training up my melee on the dummies in catan, but still have trouble winning 1v1 fights.
I restarted a game few days ago with that beginning..
- Avoid Holy and Empire (Imperial Lords) troops. Lure them to a Dead Cat town if possible. Loot, sell.. you've more than a million C. in no time (well.. 300k is nice too) If you can't lure them to a town, search for their enemies (bandits, ninjas..)
- Don't put a blade in your inventory, so you can't fight back. Buy a backpack, put blades there. You will raise strenght too. If you can't fight back, you're not the agressor, then town security (guards and police) will take down your agressors.
- Have some medkits, at least the medium ones. You heal those Holy and Emprire fallen guys, raising you Medic skill (you'll need that anyway) while looting them. Be quick as they tend to die fast..
I also heal other npcs too: ninjas, dust bandits.. but few hungry ones (I still need enemies, eh)
- Hire some basic guys, give them Traders backpack, no blade. They stay in a town (for me it was Shark, the town far north on the hill) and serve as temporary storage for the loot. My guys just wore the armors I looted from Empire guys.
Well.. that's what I've done. I'm now at least neutral with all but Hungry Bandits (and Cannibals ofc). I'm starting to build a small Research outpost near Catan, just to be able to set some outposts where i want..
I'm also starting to have my guys defend themselves against those hungry guys as they don't listen when I tell them where the closest McDo is. I'm at -14 with them btw: still healing them when they're down.
Not many fights, lot of running/healing with that but that's how I play now..
Hope that helps a bit,
Fred

Well what i did was bring hungry, dust bandits, ninjas to town mercenaries. Loot. Get good armors and 5 more guys. now with 6 of you guys, do not wear katana at first defend at first against hungry, then dust and increase your defense. When you have reach like 20 or so. Change to whatever weapon you want. My main guy is using the holy katana. and start killing hungry bandits.
Now from time to time you will meet with holy paladins and imperial guards, just run them to dust bandits or hungry bandits. two or three groups is enough to weaken them and you are good to kill them.
Right now my guys are so strong that i just kill anyone who are hostile. Oh yeah those imperial guards got some good weapons and armor.

At first i also had problems when comming into realisation that i couldnt beat even 1 simple bandit.GarryoakPokemaster wrote:So how are you supposed to get started when picking The Holy Sword? 100 cats and alone. no way to take down bandits like that. Any tips on what to do would be awesome!
The best thing to do at the start is to scavange from down bodies. Go around the start town with view maxed and look for green writting that appears from battles. Go near the fight but only close enough to see when its over or they will attack you too. when the winning group leaves, steal all the swords and upgrade your armour. now all you gota do is head back to town, sell and go to the pub to buy some meatbags to salvage even more items.
You can also do this buy leading groups into town guards, just be sure to lead only bandits or other groups you see the guards attack.
The other way to get started if you dont care much for the sword you got, kinda silly to have picked this start tho. Go to a shop and sell your sword, its worth a good amount and should sell for enough to buy another companion or two (cant remember the exact price, never selling it).
NOTE: if you do this, you might as well just restart and pick the story that gives you a group.
Really tho if you want more money and to build a group that can fight back, it doesnt matter what start you pick. Its still the same except that some start backgrounds make it faster.
The world is nothing but an illusion of the mind
