It's probably only an issue if your a lame like me and keep having to start over buut still..
Also, awesome game and the usual shenanigans. Can't wait to see how it progresses.

I believe it is to make abuses of the import system more difficult. With a quit to desktop feature it would take a couple minutes to start a game with the Freedom Seekers, sell off some building supplies and most of your medkits, then hire everyone in the local bar, save/import, hire the two swords for hire in the bars in brink, save/import, repeat until you have a squad of 20 and almost certainly enough materials for a quarry and stone refinery. Not to mention the potential for purchasing ridiculous amounts of trade goods if Brink offers low prices on anything worth hauling around, you can import and purchase all of the narcotics/robotics/luxury goods or what have you and rinse and repeat until you are completely broke and wander to the nearest town that will buy them for more and start the process over again until you're obscenely rich. The fact that you have to exit the game to do these things is at least a minor reminder that you're abusing the import system that is there to provide a way to correct bugs present in the Alpha in order to game the system.
Of course, I'd never do anything like that to build up a vast hoard of wealth, nope, not me. I only did it for research purposes. Yep, that's it, research purposes.

Cheap tricks, there will ever be people which will use it, i always thought on it, that the reset pose only might be a cheap move in the right situations, never used it either nor tested.
Was thinking to use once to take a prisioner to a citty with a police station as the one i was was really from from one, didn t got to use, had to do reset positions anyway as i had some glitched guys, and had to do it fast for a print to show something.
Which btw, guys carrying a person will not be reseted, a good glitch to avoid such cheap tricks

Didnt think this had much/any use till the game had multiple save files.Clawdius Talonious wrote:I believe it is to make abuses of the import system more difficult.
is the import system going to stay in the game when finished?
i can think of a few ways to limit its abuse if so.
only being able to import a single character, items/stats reset upon importing, limited import inventory.
ofcourse its a single player game so if people abuse it or not its up to them i guess
The world is nothing but an illusion of the mind

I've seen Chris mentioning that once the game is in release candidate format rather than alpha or early beta it would have a more roguelike aspect, saving upon exiting the game without any method for loading a save game IIRC. Then your progress would not be reversed barring any tricks generally used to get around such systems. It has always been my understanding that importing your squad was a feature that would be removed once the game was relatively bug free, and primarily exists so that people can correct issues they encounter with the game in testing.
That being said, I do hope that "New game, import previous world" or something along those lines is available at that point so that we can evolve the world of Kenshi in interesting ways and have the AI take control of our previous factions as has been tossed around as a fun idea in the past. This way some of the code it takes to import squads/buildings can be used for a new and interesting purpose.

Also enjoy that idea, each game you create be able to "skip forward" an X ammount of time, or degrade in case you odn t want, not sure how would that go there, and find your old faction there, or your old buildings (i had this cuz of a bug was funny, my old buildings xD), or that your faction had been destroyed, or what better oponent for you than your old self
