Permanent state of unconsciousness

So, my epic slayer of dying bandits got his head bashed in by an angry dust bandit, possibly claiming revenge for leading his group into a pack of their starving nemeses. The problem here is that the health of my characters head is stuck on -3 and my bleeding has stopped. Now my character is stuck in a permanent unconsciousness without dying.
Should I consider this a
death by starvation?

Does the health bar for his head have a large red section on it? Red damage can actually grow over time and will slow/stop/reverse your natural healing at larger sizes. Your best bet is to sit there on 4x speed for a while, and you will eventually see a change in his health. If his health goes down, it will continue going down, and should be considered as death.

As i said, it got stuck on -3. From there on, the healing/worsening stopped. I waited for a coupple of ingame days, but nothing changed.

Then I suppose he is dead. That's why I always make sure to have some yellow bandaged wounds, or a backup character, before going into a suicide battle. Yellow health will allow you to keep healing regardless of red wounds.

I guess technicaly he's dead then. He never got the description stating that he's dead, but I guess that will fix itself when starvation becomes a feature.

From what I understood you shouldn't heal at all unless bandaged, and only when 0 or above...with negatives requiring bed rest to recover.
Currently I have characters that will heal constantly, even in deep negatives, with no first-aid. Characters that heal according to the above, and characters who won't heal while bandaged, even for minor wounds, but will with bed rest.
Also a more standardized system for wound classification would also be nice.
Like...
100 : Fully Healthy part
50 to 99 : Minor wound. Heals naturally, but can heal faster with first-aid.
0 to 49 : Wounded. Requires being bandaged to heal.
-49 to -1 : Seriously wounded. Requires First-aid and bed rest to heal.
-99 to -50: Critically wounded. Requires advanced med kits, and bed rest to heal.
-100: Severing of limbs, or Death for head/chest/stomach
I'm assuming Blood requires you reach the opposite of your normal maximum to cause death.

You heal far more slowly when you haven't been bandaged, but you still heal. Yes, to bleed out you need a negative total that equals your maximum positive value.
