i thought i'd make a topic for everyone to post there favorite parts of the game or things they liked about it.

to start off mine would be gathering about 30 - 50 bandits chaseing me and letting town guards deal with them.( if any guard dies it means lots of money for you  )

Whats yours ?

Hi all !

At the moment, just remembering that escape exits the game and does NOT bring up a menu pretty much makes my day.

I probably have better moments in the future when the above happens more often.

My favourite moment was running for miles and miles from bandits to the nearest settlement, only to get there and find that everyone has been killed (or failed to spawn due to some bug). Having a fight with 20+ bandits inside the empty police station at 'Capital' was funny though.

Given some of the bugs (Mainly the disappearing townspeople one) - my only real cool moment was stumbling on the aftermath of a big battle between two factions and finding genuine armor and awesome swords. Yay looting!

Yeah, the post-apocalypic bug (everyone is GONE!) makes things a touch annoying after you've looted stuff and want to buy a hat to complete the shiney new outfit!

Best bit so far - the feeling of joy as you go from attacking the margins of a battle and running away to heal, to being able to hold your own against a hungry bandit and soon enough the assassins... The moment when you realise they have more to fear from you is lovely.
Could also be joining a trader (when they actually exist) and feel that you actually add protection rather than are cowering behind his beefy guards.

Only got the demo so far so I don't know about squads but I bet thats the next 'good bit' waiting.

I think the skill-gain in this game is/ will be pretty well done the further the game goes, the feeling of applying skills through practice rather than adding points is pretty fun.

I'm Really digging the sword fighting. Watching a guy block three successive attacks from different directions and then slice someones stomach open is pretty cool. I can imagine it will be more intense with sound. I would like to see a way to knock someone off balance till they fall at which point you pin them to the desert sand. I already have a character that can kill in two cuts so I can see a lot of limbs being severed with a very strong character in the future. I can't wait!
Also, I have noticed that the different weapons make the characters use them in different styles. I like the idea of the fighting style used depending on the weapon being wielded. Would love to see some staff/stick fighting as well so I can do the wondering desert monk thing.

Personally I don't care whether the combat is a clickfest or a math formula as long as it looks entertaining while it is happening.

Funny enough I JUST had my favorite part.
I've been doing a lot of modding.

In my mod, well.....

I was telling a guard to stand at a defensive position, when he wanted to go guard this other position.
<_<
Well, as we all know, telling someone to do something when they want to do something else doesn't quite work out.

Needless to say, the world promptly decided to end, and again, and again, and again, until I had my eureka moment and took away his free will.

Another funny part. When I was looting a fallen guard it turned out that he was just unconscious, so he awoke and decided to run away. I was like WTF.

My best part happened while playing my own mod.

I was fighting some zombies in the desert, together with a hired sword from Brink, when we suddenly noticed that more of the undead buggers were creeping up on us. Of course it was already too late, and they swarmed us. We held our ground and took some of them down, but their numbers proved too much for my hired sword. Just when I thought I was done for too, an empire captain jumps right in front of me and starts hacking at the zombie horde. When I look around, I see dead zombies all around me, and an empire patrol chasing down the last zombie stragglers.

I promptly moved to heal my valiant companion, whilst the empire soldiers keep the zombies at bay. When he regained consciousness, we simply ran away. I never saw those brave soldiers or their bold captain ever again.

A toast to these unknown soldiers. They gave their lives in the fight against the evil monsters. They saved two people that day, and their sacrifice won't be forgotten!
They may take our bees, but they'll never take our piе!

I fired up the game when I got home from work today and left it running so my dude could get healed up from his last fight. I went to take care of some chores and came back to my game to find piles of bodies all around the archway to the town I was in. I had the game speed maxed and apparently several large groups of both hungry and dust bandits had tried to sack the town and just barely lost. I couldn't find a single individual in that town that wasn't wounded. There were literally piles of bodies. I've decided this is my new way to get money and gear for my new recruits as I make new characters. Turn on the game, set the game speed to max, surf the net for a bit, come back and gather loot. Nice. I love the persistent world. I knew Battlecruiser3000 wouldn't be the only game to try and make a large scale persistent game environment. Wonder why no one else has bothered?

Many larger companies use the same game source for both their pc and console versions. The problem is not the lack of the idea, it is manly the limitations of consoles compared to their pc counter part. If you ever wondered why most of the recent Bethesda games used loading screens between zones (Oblivion,Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas) it is because those games were also intended for consoles. When Gothic 2 (maybe 3) was released, what systems were able to play it.

Sidenote: Gothic IV Arcania was not created by usual PiranhaBytes due to severance with Jowood (who is bankrupt now). I have not played Gothic IV (but was told it was not the same) my point is that Gothic IV is for console but is it the same?

My favorite moment?
Running from two groups of bandits totaling about forty plus, running in circles, sped up to maximum, while playing the benny hill theme song in the background.

Hey, I had a blast :ugeek:

Also, looting an uncontentious guard and I took his armor. I realize the background to the screen was moving, and I was like "What the...?"
He was walking away. With two guard buddies. Who were watching me strip him. Bare.
Master Thief already 8-)

Funniest part so far was seeing my main character breaking both arms from a bandit and seeing him flee with his two dangling arms.

Untill I caught and killed him of course.

Realizing the reds and blues don't like each other and looting a group of dead reds. Money in the bank... oh and the whole large group idea. I am looking forward to ranged weapons now. Have about 5 swordsman and 3 archers for support. Duel trained archers... hack the few that make it through the barrage of arrows.

I like to just carry random people in my squad, even if they're perfectly okay...
