There's nothing that will automate storage of it. But if you build a storage chest, you can manually store steel bars in it.

Pro tip: you don't even have to move characters to store materials. Open the character's inventory, then left click on the factory. Dump the output item into the character inventory, then left click on a storage container. You can then just dump the output item from the character's inventory into the storage. Mind you, this only works if you're within range.

I noticed Steel Bar storage boxes back in the game as of the latest small patch, FYI. They work great, too. :D

Though I will say that the speed at which top-tier Ore Mines extract ore since the last patch is borderline glacial, compared to stone mines. I have to build 3 - 4 Ore mine V's just to keep the Steel refinery III fed...and even then, that's pushing it. Doesn't need much of a tweak though, an additional 10-15% faster is all it needs.

I'm not sure about an upwards tweak. On the supply side, I've got the automated iron mine, steel refinery III with someone keeping it fed. On the demand side, I've got a guy (50-something armorsmithing) constantly working the plate-beating station, one person (67 weaponsmithing) working the weaponsmith station crafting edge 5 weapons and one person (88 armorsmithing) working a chain armor station pushing out a chain shirt. For a while, I had a recruit making chain sheets.
My steel bar production is more than enough, and that's with the plate beater siphoning off the iron ore every now and then. Those high level items take so long to make that the demand for steel bars has actually gone down. I suppose if you had multiple weapon and chain armor crafting stations going you'd run into a problem, but if your crafting operation is that expansive, then an expanded production line is in order.
