Do multiple research benches have any effect?

I've tried searching, but haven't found any thread addressing this. If I have multiple research benches with people working on them, does this research faster than just one research bench, all else equal? I never did figure this out by my own observations.

To speed up researchs up to lvl 14 weaponsmithing, i have used up to 3 benchs at once.

I generally use 4 research stations and also queue my "Scientists" to be my "Engineers" as well.
If you have a decent to higher level scientist and add another bench or three there will be a small impact to the research speed until the new scientists get a few levels under their belt.
Once they are competent though you will indeed see steadily climbing higher and higher research multipliers.
In my current game I have two 55-60 scientists and two 25-30 and they can smack down a 6h research item in a couple of minutes whereas a single 50s scientist working on it would have taken 10-15 minutes.
(Rough estimates as I work and do other tasks as they are a locked in their house, no touch, always researching member that I commonly forget I even have until the completed research notifications pop up. :P I do not sit around with a stop watch and watch the timers moving.)

I used to have four or five research benches, it will tell you your multiplier in the tech window.

not i only have one research bench since i have researched pretty much everyone except the random blueprints i stumble across. I do suggest multiple research benches at first though otherwise the wait can become quite long. also helps i have 7 or 8+ people with over 90 science.

I know the question as been answered already but on the note of research, I've found that all you need is one max level research bench to unlock the tech, then you can use the tier one research bench to help with research, also I found that if you add someone with a low science level it can actually reduce the research speed multiplier a bit.

Unfortunately as it stands there is no benefit to using the higher tier benches, you only have to have one to do the highest end research. Several tier 1 benches will take no power, and one large house can contain the top tier bench while even a small house will hold the 3-4 tier 1 benches you need to be able to hit the 2x multiplyer.

I'm uncertain exactly when, but after the map is expanded to include additional biomes, there will apparently be research that can only be done in specific locations. Specifics haven't been discussed, Chris plays his cards close to his vest, but I don't think that information is out of date. I imagine that part of the reason the current research system hasn't been altered is that significant updates would make additional code on the current system a waste if it gets scrapped to accommodate the new requirements of a more advanced research system.
