I have found that to keep captured enemies in cages is not only fun but also good ocasion to use them for training. So I use ninja jounins and canibals as the most experienced enemies. Build Outpost 4 for training purposes, dousen of cages, pair of beds and coffins inside, full the cages with captured and healed ninjas and cannibals, gave them heavy armour and worst weapons, and use them one by one for sword training of my chosen warriors in duels.

Locked door of the outpost prevent al other (serfs) interfer into combat.

After fall of my soldier another took his rusty blade and continue while doktor heals him than go to bed, after fall of an enemy doktor heals him also and put back to a cage.

The enemies also learn something in process.

Once the group of armored cannibals escapes from the cage, I dunno how. But luckily I have met them in a desert. And bring them back to the cages. But the idea to grow up super NPC enemy is great .

Maybe I can capture Drifters and level them up this way... They may hate me, but the training they get will be invaluable for em.

You only need to heal and cage them if you have multiple prisoner cages with different faction members. That should avoid negative diplomacy... unless caging gives a negative? i havent noticed? And if it does, you can use a makeshift cage in the form of a locked small shack.

I think I have found the way how to train drifter or another non-enemy fraction NPC. Just to pick up him knoked out by some enemies and then keep in closed building, bringing him his natural enemies for duels.

I was wanting to have my guys duel one another. You know just let them fight it out for training until one went down. Mainly because I read in how your squad members get better at fighting by actualy fighting. The training dummies seem to take forever and it is hard to tell if they are really gaining any thing.

So I built a walled up area inside my main base put a gate on it 12 cages and put some hungry bandits in them. I figured weaker is better for my weak guys pluse can pull more then just one on one. Though soon after I seen they were gaining skill as well. Later I plan on given them armor and weapons to make them more suited for the task. But I do the same thing as you. Attack until some one goes down if it is a bandit cage and heal. Self heal the fighter and if he is not to bad open another cage if he is put him in a local building to sleep while another takes his place. If the squad member goes down I send in another to take his place to knock the guy out and heal them both.

I prefer to use more strong end skilled cannibals and ninja jounins, because it is not easy to make them stronge. Combat skills grows quite fast, but strengh do not.

I also begun to use mass fights, like 3 vs 3.

Well first off most my guys are pretty weak. You are talking attack abilities any were from a 6 to a 16. I do not think they are even strong enough to take on the canibals yet much less the ninjas. As for your mass thing I have started to do something like that as well with a twist. Like 2 on 3 with 3 been in there favor. That way my men can get used to fighting groups and learn to handle that aspect of a fight. Also do 2 on 1 with 2 been in there favore. An I put my min there until they either are knocked out or about to be. That way they learn as much as they can from each time in the ring. Before they are sent to the beds. Also gives me a chance to train one guy as a field medic. Though I have a good one I just keep him on maken first aid kits. Light and have a fair sell price and do not take up much room. Also have not even begun to arm or armor the prisoners as of yet.

Cages are a bit buggy and could release prisoners outside of the building when cage is placed near the wall(or another object). I separated training hall from the rest of the buildings with the wall to prevent that.

Another problem is that due to game mechanics, when you have no characters left near the building with cages and move away from here, they(prisoners) dissapear. My 70atk\def hungry bandit, rip

Yeah my cages are in a walled in secter seperate from my main base. I have the cement walls on the outside of a big area. With my main base behind the first walls you can build. My training area is between the two walls. With a duel gate system in the small walls and a gate to control access to my training grounds. Also put 4 of the mk3 training dummies in there to train on while other members of my squad are fighting the prisoners.
