Improved/modular equipping

I don't know if there's some kind of design document or something that explains how the inventory will be like, but I'm just going to leave this here to see what people think.

Right now you basically can only equip one thing to any equipment area, however I noticed that each equipment area has the same inventory grid system as the rest of the inventory which got me thinking... it would be cool if we could not only equip multiple things to each area, but be able to equip certain things over those. Think something like Morrowind or Dwarf Fortress to an extent.

I was thinking maybe instead of buying complete sets of armor like you do now you, buy individual parts (of course you could buy certain full sets of armor, like large, heavy armor for example). I noticed that medium armor was basically similar to light armor but with an extra armor plate on the stomach. You should be able to equip a breastplate, a stomach plate, and the arm plates separately, and thus also be able to equip armor on both your arms in case you use both hands for fighting (heavy weapon users). It would also be nice to wear something on top of the lighter armors, the captain's coat, for example.

It could be a bit early to be thinking about these sort of things, but I would really like to be able to customize my equipment a bit instead of being stuck with 5 kinds of armor.

I think that by the time we get research/crafting, you'll be able to do this and much more.

(Not constructive enough? It is 3 am here and I'm back from a wedding/shindig  )

Even if you don't use both arms in combat, there would still be a chance the enemy might hit you on the arm you don't use, so it should still be protected. And personally i prefer the longcoat over armor (for some time i did'nt find an armor shop so i thought the coats and shirts were all that existed) because the longcoat protects almost all the body parts to some degree, while the armor only protects a select few. But if i could have armor on all body parts then that would be awesome.

I like the long coat as well. Not only does it look nice, but it has protection, but it's kinda limited protection. That's why it would be nice to be able to wear armor underneath. Something other than the chainmail, that is.

*Bump*

Great Idea.

I think it would be nice if you could equip your Armour differently. So you'd have a screen similar to mount and blade with a slot for the chest, stomach, right arm, left arm, head, face, left leg and right leg. Coats and stuff would fill a different slot and cover everything.

Would be cool. Imagine wearing really good Armour underneath, and then a reinforced coat. UBER ARMOUR. Probably weigh abit though.

Or wearing the worst armor ever made(nothing) and having concealed armor underneath it, as a bait/trap for wandering bandits and slave traders.

You'd dress up your finest jail-breaker, a skilled swordsman as a weak dehydrated middle aged man and when the slavers find him, they'll fall for the trick and anything you want can happen next
