So i have built a base north west of Telboose, just over the first dune into the desert (next to the random little hill).
When i first got here i was able to see bandits wandering all the way to the mountain pass between Telboose and Eye Socket. however after about 15-20 days i noticed i hadnt seen any more bandits or wildlife. it has now been about 70 days since i arrived here and not once hve i seen any life around me.
From everything ive seen people saying about this area and from my own experience i had assumed this was a high traffic area, in the past i wouldnt go half a day without seeing a group of dust bandits kill a group of hungry bandits only to have a group of dogs come along and munch of them both. Also i can see a nest of beakthings from my base (they are rendered) even though i have a relatively short render distance setting.
My question is, does building a base reduce the number of nearby spawning bandits/wildlife or is this some kind of bug im experiencing?
Also with my Base, Gate, AND Saloon building set to public with plenty of rum and bread in my shop counter i have not seen a single trader even pass nearby let alone approach or enter my base, although i have learnt not to complain about this as i know it's buggy i just thought id add that bit of info (i have had 2 previous bases and 1 of which recieved regular trader visit so im thinking it has something to do with location more than anything at this point)
no spawns?

trade is broken.
the bandits might have met wildlife and been whipped out.
check your map for red X's, that will be the wildlife nests.
Clownsteady has higher traffic and is usually under attack every day from wildlife and bandits ( in my game its nearly non stop )
you can always import into a new game to refresh NPC populations until a version to repopulate the game is added.

Hi,
Not sure if this is your case, or if this is even true but, i think when you keep to the same area for a while you don't get attacked much. If you move your camera to a somewhat far away spot it might trigger something and bandits or dogs, or both might spawn right inside your base !
I noticed several times when i was away from my outpost the team there would fall under attack without me overseeing the place ... I wonder, has any member of the team commented on how the game reacts to the player "leaving" an area from his view range ?
Some insights might be nice ! In my game i never see an empty world, its just that i need to travel around and not just sit in my fortress all the time. I do this when overseeing important production of armors and weapons or building stuff.
Then i send out parties of warriors and a trader or two to sell in nearby towns and to kick some bandits ass ! I haven't seen samurai or holy paladins patrols however ... Only bandits and free traders.
