Rename Characters?

Is there anyway to rename a character? I have tried F2.
Before day break there was none
And as it broke there was one
The Moon, the Sun, it goes on and on.

I wish to know as well. I'm trying to remember what roles everyone is by naming them their job, but occasionally I accidentally just proceed with their generic name.
