Issues with making a new town

After reading the different tutorials for making a town, i went for it myself, i have followed the instructions, making a new .mod file and all that. But when i try to make a town in the editor, i place the town center, as suggested in the guide. But here's where the problems begin, after i've placed the town center, i can no longer place buildings, the "blueprint" of the structure i'm trying to place, turns blue, and the game tells me that i can not place it so close to another town. When in fact no town is anywhere near.(except for the newly placed towncenter) I Have tried the other way around, by placing buildings first and then town marker, but this crashes the game without exceptions.
Any help would be highly appreciated. (sorry if the spelling is off, i'm from scandinavia)
