not a problem at all man this mod seems link not only will it be awesome when its done but its one of the obligatory mods for a game like kenshi.
Just checking, the stuff from mount and blade is free to distribute right? If not then you are technically stealing their stuff. Might be worthwhile dropping them an email to ask for permission. Since its a mod and not for sale then you should be pretty much guaranteed to get permission.

They just posted some reference, from a mount n blade mod, and the models on the first page of the topic is my work.Blxz wrote:Just checking, the stuff from mount and blade is free to distribute right? Any news would be Good News! Unless it's bad news, then I suppose I would be filled with... profound sadness...

And R3dZ3r0, I'm no good at modding but I'd be happy to help in some way with the mod in providing historical info and maybe price guidelines for items.
Not if the scottish had the weakest military power from 1000-1300 or so.
Which they did, for most of that time.

You should make old ritual swords. Pagans had ALOT of ritual swords and they were very unique. They were normally used for rituals like glorifying someone, making him from prince to king, etc. Anyways, I hope that it's goin on well.

I feel I have to point out here that it was actualy generaly the noble strata of the population that formed the command structure and heavy hitting elements of most fighting forces in the medieval period. This is because they were the only people with the time and money to both get trained in swordplay and buy the armor of the period, chainmail, a plate harness whatever it was at the time.ireadam wrote:Not if its the Scottish Nobles wielding dirty great Claymores and killing more than their troops.Lorenzo666 wrote:Noblemen are the lame pansies who send real manses to go fightsies for them as they stuff their faces with their third meal that morning.OzyTheSage wrote:Noblemen fight with shield and sword. ;D
Most armor for medieval soldiers was not mass produced in any form(mass production hadn't been invented funnily enough) and so the levys and other non-noble soldiers would probably just have been equiped with a gamberson or some form of Leather armor (we don't have any actual proof this existed as leather doesn't survive long burried underground, there are some oblique references to it though) as both could be relitively easily made at home by any peasant who knew how to sew and/or work leather*. This presents us with the problem that the core of your trained fighting force is directly proportional to the number of land owning vassals you have, but one has to remember that a knight is one of the lowest levels of the nobility, he is someone who would 'own' property on which peasantry would work providing whatever the lands grew, he would then tax the bajezus out of his peasants in the name of his lord, send most of that up the chain of fealty to his lord, his lord would then collect all the taxes from his vassals and their lands take his cut, and pass the rest upwards to his lord. Thus it would go all the way up to the king or emperor through the barons and counts and earls each one managing a larger area and collection of nobles.
Now heres where we get back to the fighting armies, when a lord of whatever level raised his armies, he would raise a force from his own lands (his personal soldiers and levys) and then he would get his vasals to do the same all the way back down to the knights at the bottom of the giant pyramid scheme. Thus a core of noblemen of various strata armed and armored in the periods style surrounded by a large number of various kinds of levys (Archers and spearmen; mostly simpler weapons that could be turned out in numbers.)
Now, I don't know much about the scottish nobles, (this spiel has been mostly based of the English or French model of doing things) but I can't imagine it'd be too diferent. To paraphrase Vernan Roche from The Witcher 2 "In my experience the noblemen don the fanciest costumes and get the best seats, whether at a ball or a battle"
*interesting note, from what I understand leather it's self was not particularly rare or expensive, lots of animals were being killed for food all the time. The thing that made the leather that the rich wore expensive was the dyes required to blacken it, there was no black dye so they had to use a combination of other colours and the dye was not perminent so these colours had to be re-applied regularly to keep the leather black, similar reasons actualy for why red and purple were colours asociated with nobility, they were expensive to dye and keep dyed.
Wow I'm not good at this whole short response thing am I?

This will probably sound real cheap, but wouldn't it be easier to just add a couple of feet/metras/whatever you use as a scaling system UNDER the whole castle/town area and add one long staircase/flat road to the main gate, INSTEAD of having to deal with adjusting the whole town since there are(will be most likely) no flat places for your buildings?R3dZ3r0 wrote:Another showcase...next time i will try to design the castle a bit more.

And wouldn't that speed your production up a whole lot aswell <.<? Cause i am dying to test this out

Whoa. That sounds good
I thought you were already given up or something since there was nothing about your progress. Good to hear
