Need Modding Advice.

So I am new at modding and ran into a few walls. I use Blender to make my meshes and was wondering how I can import an item to blender from the vanilla game, so that I can look at it. Also, I read on another thread about how you need to texture and it mentioned that this game using the manufacturer. Overall I can make the items, make the basics using tutorials around this forums, but I need overall applications advice such as plugins(saw something about .dds for Photoshop) and blender. One thing to help anyone who is wondering is that I read that you need to use ogre to convert files to be usable in blender which is when I thought of seeing ogre in the game files, so in all just bear with my noobness lol.
