Anyone have a decent way of doing this? I attempted to try the information already left on the pages but if you follow the guides you are left with:

- Place marker for "New Town"
- Place houses/etc (this you cannot do as the game defaults these items to your faction/group, so you get the blue coloured looking buildings that state you are attempting to build too close to another "Town"
- And usually at this point the editor crashes at any moment

So, I take that marker for the "Town" and place it wayyyyyyyy over in the distance and now I can place these houses and such...
- Place the marker back in the area
- Usually at this point the editor crashes again at any moment
- If by chance you laid down a row of walls for this "New Town" and find that its not what you want
- You right click the wall and it deletes (sometimes and sometimes if you exit/reload it is still there)
- You attempt a second deletion in this manner, the editor instantly crashes (for anything already
placed in the game world)
- You reload, chastize yourself for forgetting this and manually click each individual wall and delete
each piece with the DELETE button included on the object window

Sadly, I have not been able to DUPLICATE an outpost or anything for that matter relating to towns and gotten them to work properly, most elate the CRASH OF EDITOR option instantly while at other times you get the program to believe your "New Town" belongs to yourself and not to some faction even though that is what the information has.

Now, another item which I wish I knew what it REALLY did is: POPULATE - because to me, if I see something like this I think: Ok, click this to populate my town/outpost whatnot:
- ERROR! Everybody disappears! At times, you lose all your avatars as well and now are a non-entity
so perhaps this button should be more lovingly called: ARMAGGEDON instead or END OF DAYS even.
And RE-PATH? Check the pathing and fix it? I am hesitant to click the buttons as they do not seem to do what you expect them to :)

I just wish I could create and fully populate a "New Town" but using the older Wiki link help files is useless as they do not work.

Only things I have been able to mod are:

Created a new Player Avatar (The General) - slightly better stats than the Captain and has positive standing with Holy Empire so his enemies are mainly the bandits only.

The second version of this Avatar included adding 2 Bodyguards of decent levels (25-30s)

Then I added a few armour items: Kevlar Shirt and Trousers (better stats than chain shirt and empire trousers)
and a new specialised backpack: The Engineer Pack (is slightly larger than the large trader pack with more storage space but it accordingly costs and weighs more).

Now on these add-ons, is there a way to do lets say a full armour update in one swoop or do they need to be individually made mods only? For example above: Kevlar Armour Kit (Hat, Shirt, Body Armour, Trousers, and Boots) or would I have to make them all individually and then use the KMM prog in order to get them to work for the game together like I am doing now with the Shirt, Trousers, and Backpack?

One other item I would love to know how to do is get these items coloured in game but I have not quite figured that out as yet either.

It appears that in the process of trying to do these towns the game has become corrupted - I can no longer get interior items in my recruitment bars to show up anymore....now its only some NPC standing around with invisible barriers...I noticed this on everything I have placed in the past around my areas - walls, buildings, etc. All the items have not been properly deleted by the program but are not able to be seen anymore as they were "deleted" within the ingame editor but its not doing its job right.

Pathing is now affected on all areas as npcs must now go around non-entity objects as they cannot pass through empty space held by the program as being something there still.

Reinstalling Kenshi now as I find no other way to get around this having already tried reloading and starting new games all of which is not working and causing earlier buildings to randomly pop into being as well.

I should never have assumed
http://kenshi.wikia.com/wiki/Modding:New_Towns would work.
It's like a horrible April Fools joke.
The detail about placing the marker where you want the town to be,
is wrong and needs to be changed. (You place it AFTER?)
Also hitting Space to confirm building anything I've placed anywhere, crashes the game every time.

Someone please give some instruction on this?
It's pretty much the last step in the mod I'm working on, yet I can't find any info that isn't BS.

I could probably make a thread about making towns and stuff, I just figured it out though, so it might not be super accurate.
Edit: also, regarding your question about coloring the clothing you'll want to
  • 1. make a new item(which im assuming you've done)
    2. open the item in the construction set
    3. change don't colorize to "true", if you don't, the color will change for each faction(unless you want that, in which case, leave it false.)
    4.create a new color scheme
    5. go back to the clothing item and in the drop-down menu, select color
6.add the new color scheme to the item so that it will always be that specific color
Because why not.

I would be very, very grateful if you really know how to do this and are willing to share it with us! I am having all the problems described above and I have to say I've nearly got to the "too bored to be bothered" stage with this game. It has amazing potential, but as we cannot expect updates every week we are left with modding it ourselves in order to maintain the interest . I have no problem with that idea as long as I CAN mod! However, the editor is proving a bit of a female canine to deal with when it comes to the ingame building phase. I've read all the modding guides I can find from Wikia, lofi site UTube etc and can't seem to crack this one.

i was looking at the post scripting for the way point marker tool. It doesnt seem to be...err....finished. Maybe thats the reason the editor crashes? Placing the waypoint marker in the first place may be the action that corrupts the game file. Just a thought :)

(disclaimer: im not super awesome at programming.)
Why yes, I just destroyed your army, burned your city to the ground, and terrorized the entire continent by myself. Tea?

Interesting! If this is so I wonder how the Dev managed to create all the current towns, perhaps there is a step we are all missing?

My thoughts are that he is editing the script within the game itself to place the initial cities, however the editor may not be fully set up yet. Kinda like the initial release of Warcraft III. Was a super powerful editor...that you couldnt use because it wasnt finished yet. however the game could still be played with all units and buildings.

*edit*

I played around with the placing of cities more last night. Im almost 100% certain that its the waypoint thats causing the crashing/glitching errors. I had a friend look more closely at the script and he agrees that the waypoint scripting is not complete.
