i been looking at the corpse furnace to add production of carbon.
i would like to do it like the metal recycler so i could put organic material in it to produce carbon. and i want it to consume mass amounts to produce a small amount of carbon

but i am unsure of how to edit this to make it work. or if this even possible. i can see in the FCS that you add consume and produce, each with amounts.
but if i simply add in the values would that even work?

mostly doing it because i'm modding the steel refinery to require carbon to make steel bars. and i want a source of carbon.

in case you need reference to what i'm working on and to see the changes i am doing.

Unfortunately it does not work. The two functions will simply act independently of each other as I recall. It would accept bodies, and give nothing for it. And produce carbon at all times, with no cost.

i'm not aware of a way to tie the two functionalities together. So that it would require bodies for production. :(

That would be likely if there would be some option to mod a simple mine to produce carbon "coal" and then the fuel production will be fine.

i been thinking of using building materials in a different machine
just been lazy in implementing it.

It's possible to set carbon up as a resource node like iron and copper. I've actually got a mod that does it, just looking for something to use as a model since I'm no modeler.
